We were over a barrel from the get go with the Kako selection and it’s either the Dees or Saints that were going to take advantage of that, it just sucks that 2 months ago he was projected to fall after our pick then the huge media pump came in and before we knew it we was a top 10 standout, didn’t even play any footy or attend the combine while this was happening.

Rosa did what he had to do but we have definitely been bent over.
I’m still hoping that something will play out on draft night that gets us back in that 1st round.

His “rating” in the media going up and down in the media, is purely that, in the media. Nothing will have changed with the recruiters whilst he was injured, not playing, and not testing.

It is unlikely a bid will come before our first pick.

It’s sounded like the issue was more around the fact that saints got pick 8 for battle and now have the 2 picks before ours so they could get the best available mid then go for a need in a small forward which would be Kako or berry.

We we’re bent over a barrel by the fact that clubs knew how desperate we are for a small forward and they knew we were taking Kako regardless of where the bid came.
Our cards were laid bare and another team used it as leverage to get another pick in what they are saying is an excellent draft.
That’s what’s termed as boab.

We weren’t bent over a barrel though because we got good value in the trade. If the trade was in Melbournes favour instead of ours then it would make sense to say we were bent over a barrel.

We still had the option of seeking out the best value trade for our pick 9.
I can’t imagine we took the first deal that was offered to us out of fear.
The club would have shopped it around, and taken the best deal……… which was Melbourne’s.
