Ben can you tell me where Jarrad Garlett is at? Given his talent I’d take him at 48.
He seems to be over the family issue with his brother recovering and is eligible to nominate.
Given wce loaded up on r2 picks he may lob there or freo at 42.

We’re already backing ourselves on 3 late picks: just not 4 or 5.
The long one I can see why they have made that decision( even if I don’t agree with it)- the guy could have a really good upside.
Jerrett- he has consistently proved he is not AFL standard. Seems more a like a decision because he is a good bloke, and people around the club like him. Should of been the first person delisted after the season was done. A truly awful decision by those in charge
I love how worked up people get about these kinds of decisions: 36th best player on our list vs 90th kid taken in the draft.
How on earth can anyone have any sort of conviction?
in reality, what’s the likelihood of any of them having an impact?
I trust our coaches in retaining Jackson than you Blitz people.
While you breat through jackson
Some ridiculous statements by people in here honestly.
Every year, its the same whinge.
You can’t delist everyone. It’s called List Management for a reason, and both Merrett and Long have talent, fit the demographic of the list going forward.
Hundreds of other players have been delisted for a reason, so why does that suddenly make them a better option to recruit than who we already have.
They have one year to prove themselves or they go. Simple.
I haven’t scrolled back through the thread to see if anyone’s said this.
But Port were circling. I can imagine that Koch of a bloke looking to bring in Jerrett to try and drive some kind of wedge between family and footy for Zerrett.
Throw money at Zerrett and go the whole “they didn’t look after your brother” angle etc.
So we give Jackson another contract and its up to him to try and crack the seniors.
I think its probably a bigger picture type decision.
I think next year will be a year that those outside the best 22 will struggle to get a lot of game timew anyway. So whether its Jerrett on the list or some pick 80, he’s probably as well positioned as the pick 80 to make the best 22.
If he’s well liked then even better. Its not going to effect team harmony.
I totally get the ruthless view too. But human emotion does come into play. Its is a real factor to consider.
More or less, yes. It would be interesting to see whether the decision making was the same if we could offer 1 year contracts to late ND picks (of the 18 year old draft class variety).
I’m not sure why you put boekhorst in there.
I think it’s a big part of why the delist and rookie can be a useful tactic, despite what the troglodytes think.
I reckon he’s shown more than Jackson. I prefer him to Hartung too, but I’m priobably in a minority.
Realistically Hartung’s the odd one out, only one who’s held a consistent spot in the past 3? years.
Boekhorst not being able to secure a place in the Carlton midfield over the past 3 years is pretty damning IMO.
Unknown kid always seems to be favoured over development ceiling of partially known quantity. But this years 90 are average state league guys at best
Sorry, but this is incorrect. Mature players can be on 1 year contracts, and we can take extra rookie spots who would also be on 1 year contracts. You would have a look at another potential player, and still cut them after one year if they’re not good enough.
I’ve been consistent in my critism of Jerret for over 3 years, not like a lot of Johnny-come-latelys on here, I’ll put my own hard earned on the line, I KNOW he won’t make it,
Is that going out on a limb enough for your liking?
PM me anyone if you’re interested in taking me up on my offer
No one thinks Jerrett is going to make it, so not really going out on a limb to suggest that, even put money on it. I’m not really a betting man but I would put the odds of Jerrett ‘making it’ above 100-1.
However, as far as 40th man on the list goes, I have no problem with Jerrett in that spot. From all accounts he drives high standards, is a team first player, and beyond that he has shown flashes (admittedly a few years ago). The game before he broke his leg he played some good football, and kicked multiple goals several times in the vfl, so it’s not like he is a complete numpty as some seem to be suggesting.
This is the only reason l can find for re-signing these guys. They add a little bit of depth, which is always necessary. l say good luck to them, and we will revisit this conversation in a year’s time.
I was just stirring you up.
I agree with you. I’m not against him staying another year though. Introducing 5 or 6 guys this year will bring a bit of excitement to the club but anymore than that might bring some instability.
Next year we will have one of the younger lists but I still believe we can challenge for a flag. Having some cover is not a bad thing.
