Laverde still has that new draftee “could be anything”* smell, mostly due to injuries. Also he looks like the platonic ideal of a footballer, so that gets him a bonus three years of hype.

Jackson Merrett compared to Laverde… really?
Jerrett is 25 and has played 54 games.
Laverde is 22 and has managed 23 games (and also has his share of detractors).
It really shouldn’t be that hard to work out why there is hope for one, and not a lot of enthusiasm for the other.
All the best to whoever takes the field however.

He’s not going to be our saviour. He doesn’t have to be. Keep the chase on, break hard into space, make good decisions with the ball, hopefully get onto the end of a goal.
