2023 AGM - general discussion

We never agree on much, and not on this this, but why do you have so much Sheeds hate ?

The Club really only fell over after Sheeds was removed as Coach. No doubt it had its problems, but sacking Sheeds achieved nothing. I am told he is an active and important Board Member, could be BS, but what has he done wrong, other than being a Hirdy fan.

Can you point me in the direction of one good thing he has done for the club in the past 15 years? Why is he still here?

Reckon you can ask that question of any Board Member, and you may have to be at Board meetings to judge their performance.

Sometimes his sense of humour is a bit weird, but you cannot question his footy brain or his past experience. Irrespective of what you or I may think, he will win any election easily.

Established the country festival games

Didn’t he have a role in Brasher getting dumped as Pres and a couple of Board members resigning? Otherwise Barham would not have had the numbers

Yes, but he did this just to try and get James Hird back in as coach

Hasn’t that been canned going forward and 2024 is the last Country game?

I’m not a fan of one of our board members getting kitted out in opposition gear and promoting games between two of our most hated rivals whilst seeming to be a bit of a AFL patsy.
If he wants to promote the AFL and other games then he can jump on the AFL board

Has anyone said it’s being axed

He was a decisive force in enacting the Board overhaul.

I haven’t heard that. Where did you hear that from?

Lol to implement Hird. But old stable genius got outfoxed by whispybarham

I don’t think it has. For example, they played the recent AFLW game in Warrnambooll which indicates to be the regional relationship which Country Game was the centrepiece still remains.

Correct…

Came from an official at another club but perhaps he was misinformed.

Last Country round, he answered a question with some joke putting both Carlton and Collingwood down, that went down like a lead balloon with the girl interviewing him. But I enjoyed it.

Who cares?

A glowing endorsement of his past 15 years.

Does that mean it wasn’t a good thing ?

You’d think that Geelong would push for the County game to keep going, seeing how they pull our pants down and embarrass us every year.

Not sure of the accuracy of it, but it was mentioned in the B&F thread that there was some talk there on the night that Sheedy is going to retire from the board next year. If so, it would mean that he’s just seeking re-election as he’s all but guaranteed a win, then the club can appoint whoever they like to the casual vacancy for the remainder of his 3 year term.

I’m hesitant to invent a scenario and get angry about it but if it were to happen that way, it wouldn’t be a great mark of respect to members.
