Maybe some who have a background in sport, an understanding of what makes a sports club tick, as compared to running big business or businesses entirely driven by profits and shareholder dividends.

No, it was also no expected that he would undermine the head coach on the day of his appointment on the ■■■■■■■ radio.

Oh FFS. I obviously assumed that the person retired in the first year thus 2 years to go.
Id like to see him moved on but there is literally 0% chance he doesn’t get comfortably elected.
For better or worse, the views on here are not representative of the broader supporter base who will basically just associate Sheedy = good.
Assume Tim Roberts, also up for reelection, ticks all the boxes.

I love Sheeds, but he should not be in an elected position. He could literally get up at the AGM and say “you plebs can get farked, I’m going to FC”, and he’d still get voted in.

Yeah of course. My point was to demonstrate that they put Sheeds in an elected position to stop others from getting on the board who may present a different perspective, or challenge the status quo. They effectively hijack the process, though it’s within the rules.

I’d like to nominate Pat Griffin to stand against Kevin Sheedy - he’s younger than Sheedy but I’m not sure he’d accept the nomination.
Nah, he is no good and his mental age is much older than Sheeds. I would vote for Kev before him.

What makes you think that ?
Sheeds is held in high regard and he often has a very different perspective than other Board Members, which should be encouraged.
Though I do agree that ex-players have been encouraged to run for Board election and some have offered little once there.

That’s hypocritical. In your earlier post you said you’d have to be in the board meetings to assess whether sheedy has accomplished anything, but the other board members have done very little?
Well, the one time we know he had a different perspective (re coaching situation) he ended up mouthing off to the media. That’s not really ideal.
If they want him that much, they could’ve put him in an appointed position, but putting him in an elected one, for the most part, allows for more control.
Does it ? They can dump him at the end of his appointed term if they want to get rid of him, whereas they can only get rid of him if he’s elected by getting the membership to vote him out - which requires a candidate who will be more attractive to the ordinary joe-blow member than Worzel is.
Fair enough, but why put him in an elected position? He’s never going to lose. Anyway, we’ll agree to disagree on this one I suppose.
