Congratulations @Speedy_Gonzales on winning the premiership! A victory well earnt and you had an amazing year!
My boys made an amazing comeback lead by Mills and fought to the bitter end but Walsh tired as the game wore on and we couldn’t reduce the deficit by enough.
Given I have had tremendous difficulty beating you @Crazy_Bomber to do it in a grand final feels damn good! About fkn time I got the W over you!
The worthiest of adversaries given how dominant your team has been. Well done on a great season and your team putting up an enormous fight.
Whatever pre game speech you gave Mills 155 ended up scareing the hell out of me today
As for my team, some immense performances kept me in it each time you looked to be getting away - Zorko 121 with 41 in Q4, Tex 164 with 61 in Q4 and Treloar 133 really lifted.
Bulk of my team is at the end of their careers so I’m rapt to get a flag before I fall off the cliff but maybe will still have another year in them yet to try and go back to back.
For now it’s party time!!!
Many thanks to @redbull for still getting the comp running despite The Bench headaches! And @DonToDeath for looking after the player market and all my questions!
Thanks also to both @redbull and @DonToDeath for an enjoyable and well run comp despite the obvious Bench issues… I look forward to the comp being moved to a different platform next year for the betterment of everyone.
In 2024, 87 players will start with DPP, down from 149 who commenced last season with the flexible position allocation.
The top seven averaging forwards from 2023 won’t carry FWD status next season with Errol Gulden , Tim Taranto , Connor Rozee , Josh Dunkley , Stephen Coniglio and Zak Butters all MID only while Harry Sheezel will be available as DEF only.
Our top averaging Fantasy defender, Jordan Dawson , racked up his big scores playing as a midfielder and that’s where we’re going to have to pick him if we want him in our Fantasy teams. The same goes for Sam Docherty . Young Hawk Will Day was a cash generator last year in defence, but he will be MID only as well.
During the season, players who are allocated a single position can add a second if they qualify under the 35 per cent rule. These additions occur three times every season.
Draft day is one of the best days on the calendar. Get a crew together and lock in a date to hold your draft. You can host your draft from February.
A significant amount of customisation is available for commissioners to choose from when setting up their league. Advanced scoring is a popular feature where you can change the value of points from the traditional scoring system and include other statistics such as spoils, goal assists, contested disposals, effectiveness of disposals, clangers and a whole heap more.
Once your league is set up and you’ve joined, you can go ahead and compile your rankings in preparation for Draft Day.
Another feature added in 2021 was Keeper Leagues.
In a keeper league, coaches can keep players from year-to-year and manage their squad like a list manager. Commissioners can set the number of players you intend to keep ahead of the draft. They will be unavailable to select on draft day.
After your league is regenerated by the commissioner, you’ll need to nominate your keepers ahead of draft day later in the pre-season.
Commissioners can regenerate their leagues from last year by clicking on Leagues > Create a League
I think we should spend some time looking into and discussing which platform we will use over summer, so we all know what we are dealing with before any trades and list decisions are made.
At this stage AFL fantasy is the only viable option. If they fix a few things like allowing a utility on field it should largely align with our requirements.
I think we can all agree that The Bench is not a tool we would want to use again unless there are some significant changes.
