Winchelsea are the Blues if that helps
He does sound like he’d be a great pick up for us with those attributes.
Are they? I lived in Beeac for a bit and had utterly forgotten that.
Smartt, Payne and Peris are the ones that make the most sense, but we’ll likely pick whoever we think can make the grade rather than select for need
Smartt Peris Payne.
It sounds serious.
Whereabouts on the body is your Peris?
Can someone tell me why St Kilda delisted Peris?
Because he’s not that good.
They also got rid of Gresham and Billings.
Higgins & Butler main 2 small forwards.
They drafted Collard pretty early - may have had him in mind when delisting Peris.
Also have Hotton and WIlson who can play mid/fwd and higher rated.
Peris was NGA, so had to choose whether to add to list or not. Not quite good enough. Had pace, not much else.
Also SOS in charge
Smart looks slow to me, i know he’s had some cracking games which i didn’t see, but every time I’ve watched in the vfl he has been bog average. The other two have speed which is obviously a requirement, as how else can we explain Davey getting games.
Getting rid of Billings was one of the best things that they have done in years. I still cant believe they found a club that wanted to take him.
I can’t believe he’s getting a game for Melbourne. Dees should have kept Harmes and Jordon.
Harmes and Jordon have been handy for both of their new clubs.
Im still happy to have passed on them.
From memory Bryan absolutely destroyed him a few weeks ago.
Would make chasing him now pretty odd (Though he has performed pretty well at VFL level the last few years)
Just from what I’ve read here and quickly googled, didn’t Payne play HB in his U18 year and is playing midfield in his over-age year? Not exactly an area of need, but if he looks like he’s good enough to make it I wouldn’t say no.
Intercept marking plus speed is a quality mix of attributes for a defender. If he’s fast, good mark and can get the ball that isn’t bad for a midfielder either.
We’re going to have a pretty late pick.
PLaying more mid/for for tassie this year with 12 goals 9 behinds so he has some forward craft
It seems as though the horse has bolted for Geordie Payne. Many are saying he’s the new favourite to go pick 1 in the MSD now.
Rats. Every time I get excited about a player!
Surely North don’t need another midfielder. I guess he could play half back.
Did he play well in the game on the weekend?
The talented Tasmanian firming as the No.1 pick in the mid-season draft (sen.com.au)
Copy/pasting my comment from the North board:
Definitely a draftable player. You’re not going to get the perfect guy in the MSD and Geordie isnt perfect. I like him more as a forward than a mid. In the middle, he receives the ball at stoppage flat footed too often and resorts to low value dump kicks forward, and I’d want him to show more instinct to release teammates with quick hands.
As a forward, you love how strong he is overhead for his size, his willingness to compete and jump into contests recklessly. He leads into space well, and he’s dangerous when the footy hits the deck.
I’d have him behind Kako and Berry as smaller forward prospects. Outside of the first round for sure, but more than that is difficult to say.
The other thing to note is his November birthday. He’s less than 3 months older than Jagga Smith for instance. So still a ton of potential growth in his game and perhaps even physical growth to come.
Interesting Re Ling - we had him at Essendon training as SSP chance in a prior season might ahve played half a season of VFL games.
FORMER Sydney first-round draft pick Matt Ling has emerged as a mid-season draft candidate after being a part of the group of 24 players to undergo AFL medicals.
Ling, who played four games for the Swans after being drafted at No.14 in the 2017 intake, returned to Geelong to play in the Cats’ VFL side after his Sydney stint.
However, he moved to Norwood ahead of last season and has impressed in the SANFL, including playing in the South Australia and Western Australia state game last weekend.
