This kid is very good. Finds a lot of the ball.

I would have thought this is the draft they’d prefer to provide any assistance to eagles and ess in particular knowing that we’re likely going to get screwed by the TAS concessions.
we’re very likely to trade out of the first round anyway so seriously doubt it’s going to affect us that much
In my mind’s eye I see West Coast getting band 2 compensation for Allen and us getting band 1 compensation for Draper and then Sam McClure and Mitch Cleary going absolutely spare at the AFL and Essendon for having conspired to reward us and penalise West Coast.
I mean if they do give us band 1 there is a chance West Coast get it.
Why would we trade out of the first round
I still like Rod Ali as a versatile defensive option, super athletic, tough and seems made of the right stuff
re tas concessions; if bewick ends up going that high we would have to navigate around that pick
but I also don’t think they’ve finalized what they actually are yet
Got it i thought you meant this year
A look at one of Oskar Taylor’s better performances of the season for Eastern. Oskar was mentioned on Gettable as a potential late draft bolter and this game shows the traits that could be turning the heads of recruiters. He’s another in the contingent of rebounding defenders which is a real strength of this pool. He combines pace and ball skills, and while his kicking perhaps lacks the penetration of some, he has lovely balance and coordination with his technique which allows him kick at pace without compromising accuracy. His excellent reaction speed and clean hands at ground level allow him to swoop in quickly to clean up loose balls inside D50.
What other halfwits think that?
I do too. I think Essendon will trade up for Duursma and then out to next year with extra second round compensation this year or next.
Could be 3 Dursmas at the club I am thinking.
Yeah same I think it’s worth considering. Taking an extra pick into 2026 and then 2027 gives us flexibility for Bewick / Justice and potentially Rodan when the time comes.
i think it would be madness in a rebuild year to trade out of the top of the draft
Is the Dursma family really one you want to make the centerpiece of your re-build? It’s like the K-Mart version of Daicos or Ashcroft.
If the 3 Duurmas could fill 3 positions for 200 games at the level Xavier is currently doing I’d take that.
it depends what you think of the players available this year compared to next year and how you see the team. The players that would be good for us at the top end would be Duursma, Cumming and Lyndsay - all gone by the time we get our pick. So trading up to get one of them looks pretty decent. Then we need to think about what we have coming in future years. We can still get some second round picks im just suggesting one of our first rounders goes into 2026 and then onto 2027 to help with the guys we have coming in then
Me too, but the idea of trading to get one that hasn’t shown anything, and trading up in the draft to get another one, seems like a waste of draft capital during a re-build. It has a weird sentimental feel about it, that’s not really necessary.
