5th in the AFL for intercepts per game (more than 1 game).
Zach Reid 3rd from his one game
I’ve given this thread a bit of a wide birth for the most part this year. I dipped in and out enough to know that there’s been some pretty ordinary posting going on.
Experience in what?
In the 4th at Traralgon?
Hahaha what a legend.
WD40 finally got rid of the rust in his game. His last month has been phenomenal.
He’s obviously copped a lot of criticism on here and I was definitely one of the doubters earlier in the season. But he was really good against Freo and NM and his second half last night was absolutely phenomenal on every level: skill, courage, work rate, smarts, leadership. Probably the best half of football I’ve ever seen him play.
I have been one of his critics this year but some was blown way out of proportion.
That was his best captains game since the hawks comeback story at the G. He was BOG.
But people who were saying that his body is the problem were correct. Because for the first time this year I saw a player demanding the overlap handball and running the game out on top of the ground and it made all the difference. Looked to be moving better than anytime I have seen him this year easily.
I have too been a big critic of heppell but two quality games in a row, in fact I think last night is the first time he has stood up late in a last quarter to get us over the line since being captain. His kicking seems to have come back a bit too, the advantage of not having fatigued legs from playing midfield.
All I expect from Heppell as captain is to not make mistakes at critical moments in the game. He has been great the past 2 weeks.
This statement was made
You asked based on what
I said “Experience”
Pretty straight forward I thought
Have you played footy at a high level before?
Sometimes it takes a few games to get your feel and adjust to the speed of the game at that level.
He did miss a bit of footy.
Experience, leadership texts, leadership courses, numerous studies, common sense etc etc
He said it’s the best style of leadership. And I asked him based on what? So I’m asking based on what empirical evidence that backs that up? Because so far career evidence for him suggests otherwise.
And it is
Based on my experience and I’m guessing at SMJ

Perhaps, but this goes back to before his injuries.

He ran the second most distance on the ground. I don’t see how his legs would be more fatigued playing midfield
Yeah just saw that actually, maybe it’s the in tight contests of a mid combined with the running that use to tire him. Couldn’t kick over a jam tin as a midfielder.
Tracking nicely.
