Edit - lol thanks Wob
It’s remarkable how many words journalists can type and or say without actually saying anything, and without quoting anyone.
Heppell genuinely leaning towards liking the idea of moving to Gold Coast and then he wasn’t and a club was keen but now less keen and the other club was less keen but now seem more keen so it’s looks like maybe will just do the thing that he was going to do the whole time and retire (yeah nah), take another deal to stay a one club player with the team he barracked for as a kid.
Wob pls
He ain’t leaving us…
Unfortunately
Edmond is a player manager minion. He gets wheeled out when the terms and conditions of a deal aren’t what the player manager wants. Not enough commissho. So many holes in his initial story that blind Freddy can see this is a increase in maths equation outcome. We offer 1 year playing contract; 1 year as playing assistant or whatever. And some ■■■■ for nothing club holds talks about an offer of 4 years… to a 30 year old… but it’s not a formal offer, it was talks and specifically 4 years… Um, ok, seems entirely legit.
Edmonds sauces are quite off i feel.
Wish he’d consume them
If Essendon massively overpays Heppell to stay, then it’s only because of the whole drugs issue and trying to look after him for going through it all.
I have a feeling that Rutten saying Hepp doesn’t owe us anything was his way of saying the clubs doesn’t owe Hepp anything. His language in that presser didn’t sound great for Hepp.
Also was clear about wanting Hepp at the club next year. No mention of any timeframe past that.
They’re gunning for 2 years no doubt.
We should be sticking to one if anything.
You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain
That jokes been done!
Two years, less pay. If it was 300k for 1 year, I would offer 450k for 2. Doesn’t mean he has to play seniors in the second year.
This is my sense as well. The offer is the offer and if you want to go to GC, you have our blessing. It really only confirms that this whole thing is to drive up Heppells value of which it sounds like the club is not buying. It’s actually dumb to try and drive up the value of a 30 year old. He’s not Buddy Franklin, he’s a player that has more clangers in critical moments than any other leader.
FarkCarlton former captains Mark Murphy, and in his last season, Lance Whitnall, would like to dispute that call.
In Murphy’s case, quite mildly & from a safe distance.
They just moved into a new house in Albert Park.
well you’d be boring at parties wouldnt ya
