Just watched interview.
Actually think Hepp was really rattled. Doesn’t strike me as the type of bloke that handles confrontation well… he’s the “she’ll be right”type bloke and they really gave it to him. Almost like he wasn’t expecting the barrage he got from them.

It was very embarrassing. He has been able to “coast” along Heppell but he is not anywhere near ruthless enough.

When will this club focus on winning, consistent effort, ruthlessness and not pats on the back for “good blokes” and “great Essendon people”?
He should not have been put up by the club. I feel horribly sorry for him.

Just finished listening to the interview, what a load of ■■■■! The guy speaks like a politician, only tells us what we want to hear.
We’re training really hard, reviewing all our games but it’s not translating on game day" Well why the ■■■■ is it not translating? Is the club that incompetent that they can’t even put together a proper game plan? It’s 2018 and 2020 all over again ffs!

It would have been Hurley if not Heppell in 2017.
If anyone was paying attention to Ruttens presser he put it to the Senior players directly.
Singled them out as the problem.
So yes Heppell would have needed to do media.
And I thought where he struggled was when Brown asked him who his fellow onfield leaders were and he couldn’t give a straight answer.
Damning. The players don’t back Heppell and they don’t back Shiel.
Blind Freddy says the captaincy has to be moved on to someone else.
McGrath as much as he copped it for some defensive work looked to me as the best option.

I don’t understand the whole “full credit to him for fronting up “. It’s one of the captains job to do media interviews.
When things are going bad, the captain is supposed to be the guy to actually unite the team and lead the way
