#3 Darcy Parish - signed to 2027

youd think so.

Hardly noticed him.

He is a certainty to be on 9-10 votes you think and probably is actually on 12. Remarkable

What? Lol

needs to get 40 before I raise a sleepy eye

He’s on another level

I agree with you often and this post is one of your best. It has been frustrating to watch Parish be overlooked by successive coaching panels for an unknown reason. His statistics always ā€˜backed up’ my opinion/eye test that he was a very very good inside midfielder.

There is no doubt that the coaches were going to waste him in that half forward role again this season. I think it also supports so many discussions over the past 15 years that our coaches do not always ā€˜know best’ and have, in fact, made many fundamentally wrong decisions.

Can only hope we are now on the right path and not look back.

It’s not even just the clearances he does get. The amount of times he gets first hand / touch on the ball and doesn’t get the clearance is extraordinary.

He reads the drop of the ball better than anyone we’ve had since… Fark, I mean, it’s Hird-like.

When we can get a classy tap ruckman above this guy, he is going to go to another level.

A lot of people miss those things too. He will just get a hand in there and push it towards a team mate to advantage, he will do a little shuffle with his foot to clear the ball away for the other teams players in the pack. His taps to advantage inside the pack isn’t really counted as a stat but he does a hell of a lot of it.

All I can say is fk John Worsfold and the horse he rode in on. A legit parasite of player development and the club.

If ruining their development has them playing the way Parish is at 24, we should do that to all the kids…

ffs, stop acting like the last 3 years was development for darcy.

All of it helped him to become a more rounded player

I think that he was perhaps a year and bit delayed on when should have been released into midfield more but by his own admission only in this preseason past he took his running capacity to another level and he got around McGrath & Langford to push each other

This is what’s allowing him to get to so many contests. Game high 26 pressure acts also.

I hope so. I got on him last week. He should have 3 BOGs so far maybe even 4… just keep going he will have some 2s and 1s till the end of the season probably.

Also won’t be mad if we upset my other bet and beat the Eagles over there.

Imagine the LOLs when the reigning Brownlow medalist lines up in the forward pocket Rd 1 2022

Absolutely

He’s still 41 right now which I think is absolutely bonkers.

He probably won’t win it because it will be Bont or Petracca but he’s probably next and a certainty for Top 5 if he keeps this up
