#43 Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti - WALLA MACCA TIPPA - joining Tiwi Bombers

currently they hold power, so lets see how dire they get when the ‘wokes’ they fear take the reins.

Honestly, I think the lack of empathy is often due to lack of personal experience. Those of us who have experienced or are close with someone going through it often have more empathy. Those who haven’t are running on what society programmed into all of us up until maybe 10 years ago.

Good post.
The reverse is also true, in a way - being that - getting aggressive and insulting when you feel that someone doesn’t quite grasp the effect and seriousness of mental health issues is far from being a productive method to remedy it.

Like I generally agree with that, but I find there’s only so many times you can tell someone than a spoon is a spoon and have them reply that it’s a fork

You can’t teach people that don’t want to learn

This may very well be true. I guess when you realise you’ve reached that point where you can’t be of help, it may be better to let others deal with it.

A lot of people here seem to know what Riemers mental state was when played. I would suggest any player on the fringe of team selections, would be battling some sort of mental distress whilst in the the spotlight. .

People having a crack at Walla getting special treatment!!!

Crikey, he’s a special player. For purely selfish reasons I hope the club do everything possible to get the lad back to his best, mentally and physically as he is so important to our chances in 2022.

Remember this is a player that went 120 odd games without missing one. I reckon that qualifies anyone for ‘special treatment’

argh good old blitz, never change.

We need to show empathy to our players (tippa) who are struggling yada yada yada.

someone points out another player who didn’t get the same empathy.
oh oh but he was a lazy show boating yada yada so he doesn’t deserve it :man_facepalming:

classic blitz

No someone was telling him to basically harden the ■■■■ up and tried to insinuate he was somehow the only one getting special treatment.

The example used was poor, and other players being supported were provided.

Back in your box.

I Agree. Club should hire me to walk around with Walla. If that’s not a confidence booster for him I don’t know what is!

Bad advice, Cap. For all our sakes you should encourage him to keep digging.

Still a way to go, but to me Walla is looking a bit slimmer in the midriff…

That’s been common knowledge from prior to Xmas. He did his calf then, probably still working back from that and also given he wasn’t in great shape to begin with, he’s long odds to be ready R1…

Looks grim he will play first couple of rounds but I’m hoping it doesn’t extend out too mid season or missing more than a couple of rounds at most .

Essendon Football Club wishes to advise Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti has been granted a leave of absence.

In recent months, the club has been continuing to support McDonald-Tipungwuti as he deals with personal matters, with the 28-year-old also managing a calf injury this pre-season.

General manager of football Josh Mahoney said McDonald-Tipungwuti was a much-loved figure and had the utmost support across the club to take a period of leave.

"The wellbeing of our players and staff is always our priority when guiding our decision making. It was the driving force behind our decision to run a part-time program pre-Christmas which benefitted all involved in our program,” Mahoney said.

“With this in mind, we have prioritised Anthony’s wellbeing in making a decision to grant him time away from the club.

"Anthony has been very open with us about some of his personal struggles, and coupled with his recovery from a calf injury, we felt this leave period was in the best interests to support Anthony.

“He is a much-loved member of our football club, and we will continue to care for and fully support Anthony throughout this time. We look forward to his return in the future."
