Clearly we can. Doesn’t mean it is the right move though!

The funny thing is he most probably play Anzac Day and snag 4

I refused to read this thread a while backs

Did he actually retire, and now he’s returning, which would explain the weight increase?

Or did he just go on a binge over the break?

He had some personal issues (query mental health or family, or both ?) and took some leave. I think he truly considered it.

God we have really missed his presence on the field. Even having oppo HBFs looking over their shoulder for a chase down tackle or pressure act makes a massive difference in the opposition transition. Hopefully we can get him right.

Calm down mate, by all accounts he is putting in a fair bit of effort to get match fit again. He’s had decent showings in the vfl weeks prior. It’s not like he has come out and said he deserves to be in the seniors.

Does he train?

Walla played well for 2 weeks and then the reports of last week, especially the stats. looked horrible. Watching the replay he wasn’t as bad as some of those reports indicated. The effort was there but true, not as good as precious weeks. I still think he is not far off and another 2 weeks in the VFL should be enough to get him up to AFL standard.

2023 fit and firing is all we should hope for. Rushing him or playing him unfit is not in any bodies interest. If he plays a couple before the season concludes it’s a bonus.

He doesn’t have a contract. There’s no indication he’ll play next year.

Club will probably offer him a year only

I reckon this will be his last year playing AFL

It has crossed my mind.

You would think he’d be signed up already.

What if a top 4 club offers 2 years? fck that we ethier re-sign him or he retires seeing Walla in a different jumper will burn me

Would you though?
I’d expect them to want to see how well he fights his way back to fitness before putting any contracts in front of him.

Absolutely love Walla but would be fairly poor to sign him up in current condition.
Hope he gets back in soon and absolutely lights it up for a few more years though.

It’s quite possible that he hasn’t signed because he’s not sure he wants to play on at all. Being poached by someone offering a longer contract is probably not a likely outcome.
