Based on our lineup in the St Kilda thrashing a few spots back in the list, we were decimated by the end of the season. Even that Melbourne win was pretty close despite Lloyd winding back the clock.
Before the fight
In all seriousness, that sucks man . I got into a shoving match with a scum supporter early in game in our celebration game in Ruttens last year
Both games were also an absolute disgrace.
Didn’t Hird pick a clearly injured Tayte Pears in that final and he reinjured himself like 10min into the game?
Lol this thread will never end
IIRC he tagged Judd out of a game vs FCFC in 2009 or so

Now its my turn to have the 1st one on the list i actually have ZERO memory of.
Neither do I, really. Match stats/recaps are doing a lot of the heavy lifting here. The late season beltings kind of blur together for me over the 2011-2013 period.
I’m not even going to check but you can guarantee Buddy kicked a ton of goals on multiple opponents.
He didn’t even play.
They kicked 27 goals against us without Buddy
2012 was undeniably a very, very, very weird season of footy for us.
Was this game where Essendon could have gone to top position if we won?
That was the year after. Similar time of the season against the Hawks at the same venue. If we’d have won this game, we’d have gone to 6th.
Wait, this actually happened?
Yep. He kicked 4 against a weak St Kilda side the year after too.
I just remember playing Hawthorn for top spot and them absolutely poleaxing us. After playing for first we just limped into the finals.
I just rewatched the highlights and you’re right, he tagged Pendlebury, not Shaw.
Side note, you could hear the unenthusiastic anguish in the commentators voices (Michael Christensen and Stephen Quartermain) as we kicked away.

Round 22 2022
| Essendon | 3.4.22 | 3.5.23 | 6.5.41 | 9.8.62 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Port Adelaide | 5.0.30 | 12.2.74 | 14.6.90 | 23.8.146 |
Notes
-
Effectively the coach killer for Ben Rutten.
-
Port Adelaide played with no recognisable ruckman, losing the hitouts 9-50.
-
Essendon won the clearances 37-28.
-
In the week that followed, Essendon chased but failed to sign Alistair Clarkson as its new senior coach. Brad Scott would eventually succeed Rutten as senior coach.

There was no going back for Rutten after this one.
On my list, this one is higher, its one of the more disgusting examples of the players out there not giving one single ■■■■ I’ve seen.
Then we outdid ourselves the following year in the 126 point belting to GWS
Well Christian was ex Collingwood, so that’s not a surprise.
As for Quartermain, I think most commentators generally want a close game more than they do for one team to win.
