One potentially strategically important thing about the delayed trade is that moving him next year brings the 2028 picks into play. We could skip the 2027 draft for picks in trade altogether.
He might still leave, and we might take a lessor deal, but if we accepted the 2026 first and the 2028 first we would at least know the actual value of 2026 and then skip the Tassie draft in 2027.
