#8 Jason Winderlich

I live in the next town over. This is very much only an overheard conversation in a country supermarket territory, so a big disclaimer… someone said he could feel his feet, which may give some hope.
Hopefully that is a positive, and confirmed soon. Fingers crossed

Sounds like Neil Sachse at the Junction Oval all those years ago.

This is almost immediately what I thought of as well.
And as @tinhellterror alluded to, a successful surgery is just one where nothing goes wrong. No confirmation one way or another as to how Winder’s is actually fairing.

Hoping so much that this is the case and he can make a full recovery. We’re all behind you Licka.

If it’s true that he could feel his feet, that’s not a Sachse.

There was an NRL player (McKinnon from the Knights) copped the same against the Storm.

I remember that clash. At first sight the hit was a glancing blow and looked fairly innocuous, certainly we have all seen many hits in games that looked way worse.

I hope it is true too. Sounded like they knew him fairly well in years gone by… but the biscuit isle isn’t always the most reliable source of medical news

Andrew Welsh? Really? He’s worth a quarter billion.

Deep sympathies to Winders and his family, spinal injuries are horrible, horrible things. Sad stuff.

I really feel for Winders. I had spinal fusion surgery and was terrified I’d never walk and his situation is much worse.

I get the fund-raising and getting around him. Strong community connections are important for recovery.

But isn’t Welsh really rich? Like I’m assuming he is tipping in a lot of money too.

Hoping this news has come from the doctors. Still sounding like it will be a long recovery, but fingers crossed, a good one.

He tipped in 5k if you look at the go fund me. EFC tipped in 10k

Sounds pretty ■■■■ but wouldnt surprise me if he’s put in more behind the scenes.

Just because he’s loaded doesn’t mean he’s obligated to cover costs.

He’s arranged a go fund me, it seems he’s helped arrange a game to raise money for him tonight, and he’s chipped in (at least) $5000.

He’s a hell of a good mate in my books.

haha weird, If I had 250 mill and my mate needed 5 million of that to walk again, I couldnt live with myself if I couldnt give that up.

Everyones different I guess.
Kindness and compassion are different to obligation.
