#9 Dylan Shiel (Part 1)

Possibly, did we use that GWS pick in that? I think in a pick swap with North? It all hurts my brain a bit.

Yeah it really does, since future pick and live draft night trading/bidding came into play I’ve given up on trying to keep track of it all, there’s barely even any point looking at what picks we have, just watch draft night and see what names get read out to Essendon

No one is giving up a late first rounder for Shiel.

Yep. Whole team becomes lazy with him there and not being defensive minded. Zerrett, Parish and McGrath are a dynamite midfield. Could we move Shiel to the half-back ?

Look at the teams performance vs the Saints compared to Port, If Shiel played this week he’d have dominated with Parish and Merrett. He’s still an important part of our set up IMO.

Fully fit I’d have Parish, Merrett and Caldwell/McGrath 1st choice and Shiel, McGrath/Caldwell and Stringer 2nd choice

Shiel in a functioning high pressure team is still a real weapon.

Not sure I’d be judging team makeup based on the Saints game. They put us under less pressure than witches hats. Shiel probably would have had a field day too.

Can’t see the club trading him unless he asked for it, and I can’t really see him asking

People are kiddin’ themselves on the trading him front

He’d be straight back into side next week if was available. Any number of players to make way.

Essendon midfielder Dylan Shiel will miss close to four months of football as he works his way back from a torn meniscus.

And the latter it did!

Chosen to go in for surgery.

RIP

Dead set we pretty much get the worst case scenario for every injury. Caldwell hammy, 2-3 weeks? Nah, how about 6-8? Shiel with a meniscus. Standard 4-6 weeks clean-up? Try out for the season. Here’s to a full recovery. See you in 2022 Dyl…

Can picture how the convo with Murphy did;

Saturday Morning;

Murphy: Alright Dyl looks like you’ll be good in 6 odd weeks.
Shiel: Yeah sweet cheers Doc

Parish does Parish things

Murphy: Hey mate sorry looks like you need you need surgery
Shield: But you just…
Murphy: Yeah nah surgery.

In all seriousness like that the club doing stuff like this, 12 months ago we’d be pushing him back ASAP and it’d just lead to surgery anyway. i.e Hep.

Shiel should be back for the last 5 or 6 weeks - It’s a pointless exercise to put him on ice if he is fit.

High grade overload I’d say

Well…opportunity presents.
Now…and in the mid season draft.

Out for the year!
