@Henry_s_Angry_Pills - If you consider one of the kids we gave up being Caldwell then the overall scenario is fine and the continual grizzling over the trade not warranted
I don’t think we paid overs for Shiel against what other top mids had been traded for as is. And we certainly haven’t if you compare against what Caldwell came back as and the overall.
We’ve seen enough even from a few matches (including pre season) to know that Caldwell is a good footballer but there are some red flags with him right now for me with his body. Repeat hamstring injuries are a legitimate concern.
History with them as a junior, further strains at the Giants, they methodically tried to rebuild him and increase his resilience which I’m sure we’d have continued when he came to us. Yet a game and half into the season proper he does another significant strain.
Alarm bells for mine.
Once you do it repeatedly there is also a mental/confidence aspect to it that is overlayed on top of the physical drawbacks.
Let’s hope he comes back and gets through the second half of the season unscathed and doesn’t show that he’s become less dynamic.
i think he looked good as a fwd/mid against the cats and in the first half against hawthorn. He played mostly mid against port and the second half of the hawks game.
