The commentary for tonights game against west coast was absolutely horrid. And the bar is already way too low.

Tonights highlights

• A player ran on the ground without changing shoes. They thought it was the funniest thing theyve ever heard and proceeded to discuss it for the entire match

• Andy McGraths name is apparently Ash McGrath

• Sam Draper is apparently Scotty Draper

• 30+ points up and Ben Dickson says “Looks like West Coast are getting into Essendons heads”

• Will Schofield is awful

I had the volume down cause everyone else was in bed. But the kept crossing the video to their players limping or getting medical treatment.

Yeah it was truly awful. Just the dumbest people rambling incoherently during play.

The issue is they’ve made it impossible to sync up the radio call with the TV as the AFL app doesn’t pause/play - it restarts to live each time and as far as I know there isn’t another app that streams the live ABC call. If anyone has worked this out please advise, otherwise it’s mute or replay only from here on in.

I’ve generally been a bit of a fan of Adam Papalia in his AFL commentary roles but last night he seemed to get caught up in the Pavlich/Dixon/Schofield WCE lovefest.

Did we play sublime football for four quarters? Not even close.

But when a team wins by 9 goals on the road and barely gets a mention, it’s pretty underwhelming. It’s almost like the commentary team had directions from the AFL media department to be as positive as possible about the Eagles after all of their negative press of late.
