A thread about rain and no other things

What is this stuff falling from the sky!
After our driest summer in 30 years and not having seen rain for a very long time we are getting a good burst of rain this morning

Throwing water around like its going out of fashion. Ponds and water tank all full.

Nice little drop this afternoon.
Bay-side seems to have caught most of it.

Is it Pairing off ?All single Corellas looking for a mate , we have it happen with Sulphur Crested Cockatoos every March.

They probably are SCC’s.

So is it going to rain on Anzac Day or what?

I think it might

Forecast currently says yes, so probably not.

Looking like a very wet morning. Afternoon shouldn’t be too bad.

We really need it so hope the conditions match the models for a rare time this Autumn when it comes to rain.

It’s probably been asked a million times, but WTF does the BoM mean when it says “25% (low) chance of at least 3mm” during bg a particular hour. What are the chances of getting no rain? Or more than 3mm? Or 6mm? ANZAC day is 3 days away, I wouldn’t be dropping our talls just yet.

Latest guidance for Friday remains mixed.
Euro model expecting showers on and off during the day.
American model expecting the rain to increase in the afternoon and evening.
My each-way guess at the moment, but I’d say damp but not extremely wet either for the game.
A typical winter game I expect, rather than a wet weather slog.

Yes I agree. I think frequent showers so it will be a wet type of game.

Credit to the modelling, they’ve been calling a broadly wet ANZAC Day for the 10 days out period I’ve been tracking.

My weather app is suggesting rain from midnight tonight

I don’t think we’ll see anything in Melbourne before morning tomorrow.
Still lots of divergence in the models.
Euros think rain on and off during the day, perhaps becoming heavy late in the day.
Yanks think light rain, but the heaviest stuff not until Saturday early am.

yep - gardens need a really really decent soak, and some.

This just changed quite markedly in the last half an hour.

Gone from this…

To this:

So previously the largest downpour was expected around 6-7pm whereas now it’s between 9am-10am.

How accurate do the Blitz weather experts reckon this looks?
