Adrian Dodoro - Flankers into Mids since 2000 (Part 2)

Time has not done him well with those comments.

  1. Ridley’s best footy has come against the best forwards

  2. Ridley is very reluctant to sag off his man if he’s the slightest chance of getting it

  3. If we lose zerk Ridley doesn’t get freed up in any event

Ridley was playing in his own man and covering for Zerk and Lav occasionally. It was pretty epic what he was doing, also unsustainable long term.

McKay ensure that the biggest and best forward are taken care of and Ridley can work with Lav to cover the other forward and medium forwards whilst intercepting as well. He is going to do the role we had planned Reid to do, albeit too early.

It also allows Ridley to be the general in defence, with less worry about covering for lesser players.

Seeing as though McKay averaged more intercept marks and more intercept possessions than Ridley this year… maybe Ridley frees up McKay?

McKay was top three for intercept marks this year, and number 1 last year. This is actually the one part of acquiring him that does excite me.

How good is it watching the highlights of McKay destroying Hawkins.

Did not provide any further info…I might have to ask him and see if he’s heard anything since. He’s usually spot on with his intel.

What’s happened to the trade thread? Can’t find it…

Thanks I think I muted it maybe, didn’t know I could!

Ok so at the B&F I spoke to a number of ex players and a few officials and all are very supportive of Adrian Dodoro. Summary:

  1. He’s been unfairly portrayed as being bad at his job - he’s actually very good
  2. He’s good at picking talent but the club’s development has meant many of his recruits don’t go on to be very good players (ie it’s not Dodoro’s fault)
  3. Dodoro isn’t leaving in fact he’s still going to be involved ā€œbehind the scenesā€
  4. He’s a good bloke that bleeds red and black

Sampling bias

Sampling bias occurs when the sample selected for a study or survey is not representative of the population from which it is drawn, thereby leading to skewed results. This bias can happen at any stage of sampling, such as during the selection process, data collection, or data analysis, and it can introduce inaccuracies and limit the generalizability of the findings to the wider population. Different types of sampling biases include:

- Self-Selection Bias: When participants volunteer for a study, and those volunteers are not representative of the entire population.

- Convenience Sampling Bias: When samples are chosen because they are easy to acquire and not based on systematic sampling strategies.

- Undercoverage Bias: When some groups from the population are left out or are underrepresented in the sampling process.

  • Non-Response Bias: When individuals chosen for the sample do not participate, and the non-respondents differ in meaningful ways from those who do participate.

Addressing and minimizing sampling bias is crucial for enhancing the validity and reliability of research findings.

Yep he’s so good at his job and picking talent that we haven’t won a final for 20 years with him as the head recruiter.

Poor Adrian he’s just misunderstood.

Yeah, such an amazing coincidence that we’ve had poor development for 20 years eh? Even though we’ve changed so much of our development staff and assistant coaches over those 20 years…

Thanks for the intel. Sounds like we have some deluded ex players and officials, which isn’t really surprising.

Dodo hasn’t been portrayed as anything. Not sure what they’re on about when they say he’s been portrayed unfairly. The club never says a bad thing about him and the media hardly do either. So who’s portraying him unfairly I wonder? The reason he’s judged harshly by fans is because of his extremely poor record and every statistic attests to that.

I don’t know where this myth comes from that he’s good a picking talent. It’s actually the opposite, as suggested by our AA record as well as other metrics. We also still lack in important positions, and development isn’t the reason for that. For example we can’t develop a midget mid into a BBM.

Also, I really don’t care if he bleeds red and black. It’s so completely irrelevant to anything and I’m not sure why that matters or why it’s an argument. I’d much rather someone who doesn’t, like silvagni for example, if they can perform the role better.

It’s unfortunate that this stain on the club doesn’t look like leaving any time soon, although not unsurprising.

Adrian Dodoro selected us so he must be good, we didn’t turn out to be good players but that was due to development.
He’s also our friend.
