I have a Fitbit Versa 2. I think the current model is Versa 3 or 4. It costs half what an Apple Watch costs (or less), and the battery life is about 3 or 4 days depending on how much you use it for. I looked closely at the Apple, but there wasn’t anything at all that I wanted that I couldn’t do on the Fitbit, and it was the battery life that sold me on the Fitbit.
As for phone calls and texts, I keep my phone on silent. The calls still come through on the Fitbit, but I’m the only person who knows and I can choose whether to take the call or not.
On the basis of what you have mentioned, I would say the Fitbit wins hands down.
I have a fitbit charge 5 and its junk. 5 day battery life at start but down to 2 days after a year and dies on me randomly 2 years in, sometimes 10 minutes after charging. Would never buy a fitbit again.
I’ve had 3 Fitbits. I’ve never had anything like that happen – they’ve all been great and I’ve decided from time to time to upgrade. The Charge is not really a watch. If you want a watch, get a Versa.
I’ve just found people with Apple Watches seem to pay more attention to messages and who’s calling than people on phones. Maybe it’s just the hand motion of checking it, gives off ‘is that the time?’ ‘This meeting is so boring’ type body language.
The Fitbits would cost under a dollar to make. They were giving stuff like that out free in the US back in the 'eighties, so would be even cheaper now. so they have a HUGE price markup
Show me your costings then expert. I know they could give them away free forty years ago in US; I know because I got one free then. With vastly reduced manufacturing costs in China they should be even cheaper on a unit price these days
But hey you are the self-declared expert. But all we have seen your expertise is only in “rubbish”. So provide some legitimate costings or shut up.
Right. So they gave away smartwatches that tracked exercises, synced with your mobile phone, had GPS tracking, notified you when you received a phone call, allowed you to make payments on your card without the card …?
Remarkable gifts. Seeing as most of those things hadn’t been invented yet …
When I investigated why my Fitbit was recalled, no-one would say, so I got a friend in USA to dig it out and it seems one of this model had a battery explode while being worn.
Reckon all these watches cost under $10 to be made, including Apple.
