My daughter was having performance issues with her iPhone 12 64Gb so backed it up, did a factory reset, then tried to restore from the backup. This keeps erroring out because the backup (58Gb) is bigger than available storage (56Gb). Very frustrating as she has lost a lot of important data & memories. There was no warning about potential size conflicts of course. Took it to the Apple store at Highpoint who suggested we buy a new iPhone with more storage. Some lessons for young players for sure, but still, feels a bit like Apple made a business decision in allowing this to happen so easily.

has anyone had luck with Apple Intelligence? Iāve tried a few things on my MacBook Air and iPhone and I find it completely useless. Itās really just Siri, but possibly a few more useless features. the summarising of emails and messages is generally ā ā ā ā , so I switched that off.
You can create cartoon like pictures, but thatās a waste of time.
Want to confirm if itās just me and anyone has had some success with using it?
I just switched it off. Didnāt see what benefits it could give me, and dislike even small things changing when Iām doing my work.

I think the summaries of incoming texts/emails etc are very good.
Actual creative LLM use is of dubious value otherwise, though it did have a good day yesterday in rapidly verifying the calculations of the not-actually-tariffs. Of course, if LLM was used to create that list it was a fine demonstration of the user having their brain properly switched off.
Apple spoke more about day-to-life practicalities for their āAIā, and everyone has largely failed on that one.

for one email, yes I agree. but when you have a chain of them it misses key points within the chain and I found it often really leaned heavily on the first few emails.
ask Siri anything complicated and it just says āuse ChatGPTā

Iām seeing articles abut iPhone prices possibly going up by 40% due to US tariffs. Are price rises likely to only be in US? or will they be worldwide becauseā¦ wellā¦ just because.
Asking because Iām looking to get a new iPad in a few monthsā time (when my personal cash flow improves)ā¦ but will it be cheaper to buy now?
Imo worst case scenario if they do go up you could buy a couple of generations ago model instead for relatively cheap? Especially if it has one of the M chips in them, theyll last for ages.
