go for a 4k tv, its the future.
4K HD
I need 4 HDMI ports, but make sure you have enough
3D is pretty much a dead duck now (useless to me since i can only see with one eye)
Stick the curved jobbies where the sun donāt shine
I got a 65ā LG OLED at the new year sales, but 55ā is plenty
Yeah 55" is almost entry level these days but you can still get something like the LG 43" 4K UHD Smart Tv for around $1000. If your room isnāt that big jumping to 55" can be too much. Some of whats on the more expensive models is gimmicks so really just get an idea of what you want to spend & then look at them yourself to see which picture you like. Some people donāt like the 4K UHD clarity as they think its too realistic. OLED is definitely better in some areas (brightness can worse depending on taste) but again if youāre coming from a much older TV you might find LED LCD will still be a big improvement & good enough for your budget. HDR (High Dynamic Range) is the latest buzz for picture quality but unless you are looking at the top end models (usually over $3K) its not a massive factor. Again its good, its better than non HDR but is it worth the extra $$ - thats only for you to decide. As for brands thereās hardly any bad ones these days particularly if youāre looking at the major retailers. LG are usually excellent value in TVās, Samsung is their biggest rivals & Iāve always liked Panasonic.
Do you have Netflix or similar? Some TVās have specific remote buttons for these apps which make it easier to use.
Also be sure to ask if you can really get a listen to the sound quality without 50 other TVās next to it blaring. Its almost like some models expect you hook up external soundbars so the onboard sound is tinny & poor quality. This is again more budget related as its the entry level model that usually have this shortcoming.
Many of us on Blitz see out of one eye, On some things !
10 posts up you were complaining that this sort of malarkey killed your TV, some people never learn!!
Thanks.
I Netflix, so that would be handy.
PS4 Connectivity
Also have a PS4 Pro, so Iād be keen to look at Sony if it means the two can work seelessly, or even remote that controls both tv and game console.
2x HD Tuner
Also, we still watch/record live free to air (footy and some movies) Iād like to be able to do this while watching other shows.
Many Blitzers speak out of one eye, also.
Ive got a 49" Bravia 4k. Its a year or 2 agos model and canāt see myself switching for a while. Generally most TVs allow controlling of other devices via HDMI cable so seamless integration shouldnāt be an issue.
Just pick a budget head over to all the shops and see which is the best picture you can get for that budget. In my experience Sony is best for sports.
Android tv integration might be your jam too. Love chromecasting stuff from my phone to the tv. Worked a treat for the Aus open to avoid CH 7 commentary
Whenever Iām in the market for something (TV, washing machine, air fryer) I keep an eye on ozbargain.com.au
Helps me also gauge prices of these things before I pull the trigger.
We just bought (although havenāt got it yet as we want it delivered to the new address in a couple of weeks time) an LG 55" 4k OLED. Absolute ball tearer of a tv, and should do us for the next decade. OLED is the new plasma, and definitely the way to go if you want the best. But like the best of anything, itās not the cheapest option.
We did???
Jesus! I canāt leave you alone for five minutes
Very witty dear.
Mrs Fox got one of them recently, with a curved screen, just for me.
It is great and she even lets me watch what I want sometimes.
I bought a new TV last year and needed a 65". I just couldnāt justify the cost. But they look amazing!
The best thing about new big tvās with high resolutions is watching SD football. Just brilliant.
For reals, ⦠or sarc??
Only because you havenāt got time to take ours off the wall before you leave, hehehe
Sarcastic. Looks terrible blown up on a big screen, especially in play views. Close up is ok.
stand further back, feels like youāre back in the 90s
Many Blitzers speak out of one brown eye all the time.
