Appliance Buying Guide: What's good and stuff

Bravia 65” 4k. Does the job. Purchased just over 12 months ago.

My decision was based on the OS as well as picture quality - without going the full OLED.

I went for what I determined a better driver in the high end Bravia compared to what I found/researched in the Samsung and LGs. Contrast wise - when I saw the compartitive difference in store the choice was easy. For price refernce - it was about 1K more

On the OS side of things never been a fan of using Samsung guides and navigation. Clunky and slow. Thought android was a safer option as google pump money into it. Not convinced its the greatest either and each update seems to take a few runs to get right. Happy with the look and feel but not impressed with the operation.

Model is the X93D

My two cents of two key features I looked at, hardware power and the OS.
HDMI, ARC, wifi, smarts are all pretty much comparable, the only other thing that pushed me towards the Sony was also the speakers to be “better” than samsung. With a 4K 65” TV your wasted without surround sound though anyway so still a mute point.

What you bought was exactly what I would get if I didn’t go OLED. Very nice tv. Best of the LED’s for mine, although like all Sony’s, a bit over priced.

david warner’s endorsement get you over the line, boot?

I went LG because I didn’t want to use Android TV. I don’t have any Android devices in the house (hence the arthouse movies).

I still have tomorrow’s bbq to strike!

Whomever it was a few months ago who said the Xiaomi vacuum was awesome, it has certainly lived up to the review given here!

Such an awesome thing and does such a good job. I also got one for mom who has two bad knees and she’s might impressed as well.

If only that were still true these days.

If it were, the multi thousand dollar telly Warner was advertising would have a 10 year Guarantee for that much money, rather than just 12 months,… half that of a $799 4K job from Aldi last year.

1 yr warranty for a 7 to 10 K TV?, … lol I did.

Not to mention it will likely be outdated tech in 5 years or less,… even without todays mandatory built in obsolescence.

If that’s how you view things mate, go for it. I didn’t even look at the warranty. I was buying a tv, not a warranty. It was all about picture, format compatibility, technical capability, etc. And I’m sorry, but no Aldi tv is even in the ballpark, regardless of warranty, with what I bought. And in reality, Australian consumer law protects me way more than a manufacturers warranty if that’s what floats your boat.

I watch tv on my phone. I like it. Could also be why I have no input in the process whatsoever.

1080p tvs have been around for more than 10 years and aren’t out dated because nothing is released in that 4k really.

My telly is 4K but not OLED, cost just over $1k. It’s awesome.

“1 year warranty” is irrelevant. according to consumer law, the product must last for a reasonable amount of time. a guy took panasonic to the AAT and they deemed the life of his telly should’ve been about 7 years.

Samsung recently replaced the panel in my 2 year old tv, out of the “1 year warranty” no questions asked.

Edit: https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees/warranties have a read of this. now whose loling?

samsung not asking questions on a warrant claim. incredible.

If anyone is after a Thermomix style cooker then I can recommend the Tefal Cuisine Companion. At the moment you can get them for $650 on Amazon - which is a great price as they were selling for $1699 just 4 months ago. They are meant to only be 30% off but I think Amazon have screwed up in this case. I got mine for $999 from Harvey Norman and they are a great appliance.

How many inputs do you need??!!??
5? 6? 12??

Mate of mine had his OLED Tv replaced twice by LG after their warranty expired.

Both caused by lightning strikes and power surges, things I’d not expect them to be responsible for.

What’s that got to do with inputs? How about picture and sound quality?
