Appliance Buying Guide: What's good and stuff

hmmm, we have a Smeg dual oven, dishwasher, induction top, rangehood & kettle!
The first oven delivered had a wonky door so we sent it back, since then all okay.
But I get a nasty feeling…

Hopefully you get a good run.

I switched from Sony to Samsung TVs 10 years ago and will never buy any other type
of TV

I’ve been a loyal LG buyer. Had the same TV since 2015 and it’s still going strong. Not a smart TV but nothing that Chromecast and Apple TV can’t fix. Having said that, I am due an upgrade.

For all the thermomix fanbois, what can you make that’s worth the $2K outlay?

A guy at work got one and told me ‘YOU’VE NEVER HAD PEANUT BUTTER LIKE THE STUFF MY THERMOMIX MAKES!!!l IT ALSO MAKES RASPBERRY SORBET!!!”

Since then I figured it wasn’t really worth it.

Smeg is very good. At our new house we went Vzug on all major appliances. Couldn’t be happier

People actually buy thermomixes?

Cant tell you.

But look I spent 3.5k probably all up on an espresso setup

I had a lot of coffee over the 4 years since buying and make a cup that’s as good as my local cafe.

I think it’s worth it. I really enjoy making a cup of coffee.

Maybe your mate eats a lot of peanut butter and sorbet?

Samsung has the worst after sales service of any major brand.

Well when we bought it wasn’t anywhere near $2K.
Sure, it was still expensive.
You have to look at the cost over the long run. I make different curries all the time in it.
Wife prepares different foods in it all the time, it’s used multiple times a week.
Even the cooking phobic boys of ours prepare lunches for themselves in it.

What’s a lunch you would make in a thermomix?

For useless boys it could be Mac and cheese. Or risotto.
Sure the could prepare it another way, but they wouldn’t because that would involve more work.

A spoon and a saucepan?

I had a new Samsung tv nearly burn down a holiday home.

I like some things they offer but it is hard to forget.

Have you seen teenage boys cook?

They get very hungry. I’m sure they would work it out with a pot and a spoon

Maybe a dumb question.

But you know rice cookers?

Came to my attention there’s a huge difference in price between them. Ie you can get one from Kmart for 15 dollars or a Japanese thing that costs 500.

Does anyone know a sensible rice cooker for really good rice at the right price(scuse the pun)
