If you’re a ten cups of rice big rice eating family rice cookers are good. However I can make 1 or 2 cups easily in the microwave. Just need a suitable sized dish with a lid.
Yeah i usually just use a saucepan. Had a rice cooker years ago though and it was just easy.
Also microwaved rice and made a mess of it.

If your life is rice you know why the Japanese rice cookers cost $1000+. I have the later.
I’ve been doing it for 40 years, perfected it ages ago. Asians need to get with the program.

I’ll admit that the microwave version of Risotto is not nearly as good as the manual method. Basmati rice on the other hand works really well with the right combination of settings. 13 mins at 70% than let sit for a few minutes before stirring.
Nah, I don’t eat that stuff. It’s yuck and costs too much. 5 kilo bag for $12 is more my speed.

Can you imagine a steak, beef Wellington or roast chicken from a microwave?
I remember getting our first and not knowing exactly how they worked. We put a 1cm cube of steak in and it was absolutely triple cooked after about 5 seconds. Fkn tasty though, 24 hour marinated cantonese beef if I recall correctly.

I like the Kef LSX II for your use case.
At some point add a small sealed sub.
Concentric or co-incident drivers like that have really good off-axis frequency response. So the sound doesn’t vary as much seat to seat.
Separates you won’t get the same sound for that budget unless hunting second hand.
