Appliance Buying Guide: What's good and stuff

I use Kali IN-8 digital active speakers at present. Utilitarian ugly things but sound good and cheap.

My favoured aesthetic is disgusting 70s weave or plastic grill so I’m certainly not the person tomoass comment on appearance :joy:

Do you walk into high end furniture shops and start harassing staff about the lack of brown velour options?

I wish I was brave enough to ask for ā€œsomething that has that two tone copper and brown 1980s Mitsubishi Magna Eliteā€ vibe.

Bang for buck I really rate the brand.

I’d get ran out of this serious hi fi chatter to simply suggest Apple HomePods.

Really good audio from them and a wireless setup that actually works.

Really envious of a mates setup.(wish I had them over Sonos)

And remarkably cost effective for Apple.

Seeing this in person. Holy ā– ā– ā– ā– .

I ended up getting the smallest one, the D2000, which is about the size of a small ottoman, weights about 25kg.

It was an ex demo sale, so 40% off.

Tested with Too Gun 2, Blade Runner 2. Outstanding performance straight out the box. It easily adds 25% to the overall movie watching experience.

My teenage son movie critic turned to me and said ā€˜whatever you paid? It’s worth double…’ (technically he was almost correct)

I know a few were wondering about sleeping duck mattresses a while ago but ive ordered today an ecosa cooling mattress. Will let you know how it goes after it arrives.

As far as firmness goes it felt one step softer compared to spring. Tested in store at Nunawading

So bed arrived on Friday so i’ve had a few nights on it.

Delivery was easy. One note was how heavy the mattress was. We were previously on a Sealy (I think one step down from their top range) but this was maybe 30% heavier. It was fun cutting the bag open. Let the mattress breathe for a good 9 hours before putting any weight on it.

Comfy. You don’t find pockets inbetween the springs so it’s fairly even across the whole bed. You definitely don’t feel movement from your partner rolling around. I also don’t feel her getting out of bed in the morning.

As for ā€˜cooler’ i’m not sure it’s that much of a difference. Maybe next few warmer nights will tell.

Bed is much firmer than in the shop. I take back the one step softer comparison.

One odd note is the sheets are super slippery. The surface of the mattress is super smooth, so much in fact we put in one of those sheet holders so it doesn’t pop off. https://makerworld.com/en/models/2048752-the-anti-sheet-clip#profileId-2210974

Let me know if you have any other questions.

did you go medium or firm?

we’ve been looking at getting a SD (up from as Sealy as well) so interested in how it compares to normal spring ones

I went medium. My spring was a medium firm and I reckon they are pretty close.

If you do go to the showroom, try the super plush soft. You’ll be like homer disappearing in to the hedge.

Great to relax on, but sleeping needs to be rock solid.

Some hotels I’ve had in Asia it’s like a park bench , but somehow it’s just perfect.
