FB marketplace has more ads these days.

There are plenty of idiots on all 3, so be patient.

Thanks everyone. I can wait a bit, but hopefully only about 3 weeks.

I heard of extra freezers. What else are they buying?

There is a website called ā€œBuy Nothingā€ where people trade and give things away. They have local branches depending on the area you live in. It costs nothing to join, but you can only join one group. l haven’t used it myself, but know others who have.

Those shopping for a big TV, Aldi have a 65" model for $529, available in stores next Wed, April 15. Sounds pretty cheap to me.

Picked up a Philips OneBlade Pro.

Reckon it runs rings around a Wahl eh. (at least for a beard trim or a shave).

One adjustable clipper(from 0.6mm to 10).
Waterproof(works in the shower)
Cordless.
Super comfortable. I get pretty bad shaving rash. Nothing with this baby.

Do it all shaver/trimmer I reckon.

Have yet to replace the blades on it. As its a shaver and a trimmer thats prob its downside. Box said I think i will get about 4 months shaving from it.

I get about 3 months out of a blade with mine.

I get about 25x full shaves out of a blade before it starts to become hard yakka. Agree with your review. They’re ace.

I hate electric razors. There’s nothing like the clean feel of a proper shave with a proper, modern blade.

But I do use one of those VS Crew-Cut jobbies for the bonce.

It’s not as close as a modern blade that’s for sure. But it’s not bad for a rough clearing of stubble.

Anyone have an induction cooktop. Mrs Fox wants one, and I know nothing about them. Any recommendations ?

Three things about them…

Certain types of cookware aren’t receptive to induction. Make sure your cookware is receptive.
They don’t do woks well, because they work best on flat bottomed cookware and woks need heat applied across the whole surface.
You may need higher amperage

I had one at my last place, and regret not getting it installed at my current place…partly because the gas cooktop wasn’t installed properly.

I agree, but a blade shave every day gives me a rash. So most days I use a Braun electric. I can get a reasonable shave if I spend about half an hour at it, but a 5 minute one looks okay even though it feels rough.

I couldn’t have got away with it 20 years ago; the 5 o’clock shadow would have been evident from about 10am. The one benefit of being an old fart is that my beard is silver, and there’s no shadow.

Next time your razor gives up, i recommend checking out the philips.

I’ve had brauns(electric), wahl, every blade shave under the sun from the supermarket. (and every combo of oil/gel and foam)

Imo the philips is the best regular shave i can get. So comfortable. (for my skin anyway).

I was given an electric shaver as a young bloke but like a few on here was not even remotely happy with the outcome. Has the technology improved enough in the past 30 years to justify the gamble on outlay? Because I’m tipping the shaver shop won’t entertain a return if not.

So you aren’t on board with the recent retro single blade hype, where they’ll charge you $150 for your grandfather’s single blade, laser cut out of stainless steel?

I’ve used them. Shaved close as, but if you get the angle of attack slightly off, you end up looking like Norman Gunston (but the have equally exotic and expensive products to fix the bleeds, which is nice)

For electric shaver I reckon philips is the best (I have no experience with the trimmer that @handypoint was talking about, but I’ve always found philishave to be better than any foil shaver.

Re Wahl I had been talking about hair clippers rather than trimmers etc. Just invested in

Hopefully good. Perhaps overkill, but what’s left of my hair is kind of more like steel wool.
