At the movies - From the couch

I really enjoyed that…it was such a different movie…not your typical Hollywood pap.

Daniel Day Lewis was excellent (as usual)

It must suck that no-one can reuse any props from a Daniel Day Lewis film.

I honestly don’t get the hate for her in this. I think both she and Leo are kind of out of their depth and miscasts, but not quite enough to distract. DDL is excellent as well as the set design. I just love living in that era of NY for 3 hours.

I enjoyed seeing Leo being subdued and not carrying a movie.
Diaz was freakin’ dire. Couldn’t watch her anymore.
I haven’t seen Ryder in Age of Innocence, but I can’t imagine she could be worse.

Oh, my joke was a little too obscure.
He chews the scenery.

It probably gets hates from critics because it is just a dumb, dumb premise for a movie. Think about it for a moment. The whole plot is based on the idea that it is easier to turn miners into astronauts, rather than get astronauts to do a bit of mining. Bruce Willis hams it up throughout. That movie stinks, big time.

This one is firmly in the “so bad that it’s good” basket for mine

Tbf that was the original plan for NASA in the movie is for Bruce Willis to train the astronauts how to use the drill but Bruce had to be Bruce haha

I think the human drama is the best thing about the movie if it didn’t have that then the movie would be totally garbage imo

New Matrix does kinda get better, but remains pretty ■■■■ as a whole. Real disappointing. Action sequences are boring, way too much superfluous slow motion, cyberpunk theme all but gone, too pretentious for its own good, legit half the movie is flashbacks to previous movies, almost a copy paste job of the first one.

Agent smiths relegated to cardboard cutout henchmen. Without Hugo Weaving in that role theyre just dull and uninteresting.

Real shame, but a great example of how fkg boring the film industry has got. All the grit and grime from the original trilogy is gone. Neil Patrick Harris as Neil Patrick Harris as the bad dude (not even sure what his role was), says it all. Gross.

good excuse to post this excerpt from the dvd commentary (feat ben affleck)
