At the time, Arya Stark was kicking arse in GOT and her real name was Maisie.
Now one of those Pop Dolls of Arya Stark sits on our Maisie’s bookshelf.
That is a very sweet story.

A lovely gem of a film about three girls involved in a drug deal gone wrong. It’s a touch slow, according to critics, but I believe that rewatching it heightens the suspense.
One Battle After Another is one batshit crazy brilliant epic movie.
Superb acting, by DiCaprio , Penn, del Toro, awesome soundtrack by the legendary Jonny Greenwood.

An almost top notch movie on so many levels.
An extremely poorly acted movie particularly when the director introduces 2 sub-plots in the movie, valiantly tries to align them. The kids/ family thing just doesn’t work, sticking with the mission/crew & more of them would have had more gore & crunch dino factor!
If you are a Scarlett Johansson fan its an OK movie whereby she is a skilled covert operations expert. Unfortunately she doesn’t show it much.
Only watch jurrassic rebirth if you are blottowed & with a big screen. It would be a hell of a movie.

Adam Sandler, Jenifer Aniston. Written like most of his and Will Ferrel movies. Multiple super hot women, that he doesn’t deserve are throwing themselves at him…but he just can’t decide.
Guys. We can all relate, right?
Anyway it’s not much of a movie. Aniston is her usual self, and hasn’t aged a bit.
Absolute highlight of the movie SPOILER SLERT a guy picks up a coconut off the ground using nothing but clenching it between his butt cheeks . Even more impressive that he was wearing pants at the time. Worth fast forwarding it for that, and the bits with Jen.
Jennifer Aniston plays the same character in every single movie she’s ever made, absolute atrocious actor.
Enjoyed this good romantic thriller
Alongside Adam Sandler, she was amazing. Comparatively.

28 Days Later - 2002
It’s been reviewed and recommended in here a bit. Well worth a watch.
A little predictable, and a couple of plot holes, but that made up for it in the rest of the movie. Plenty of action, tension and great acting.

Been sick as anything lately. Watched a ton of movies
Miami vice- was ok.had moments of brilliance. I found the filming of it really weird, almost too realistic( similar to public enemies). I have never seen the tv show but Farrell and foxx had zero chemistry. End was a bit of a let down too
Thursday murder club- I really enjoyed it. Didn’t pick the ending at all. David tennant is great as the dirtbag developer. Couple of very funny moments too
Dog lovers- straight to dvd movie about an animal rights person who goes to a dog breeding farm to see if they are dodgy. Enjoyed it
The losers- bunch of mercs who have been bretrayed and want revenge. Decent enough. Came out in early 2000s. Stacked cast of guys who were in it all before getting big. Zoe Saldana, Chris Evan’s, idris Elba , Jeffrey dean morgan
Far from men- French movie about a teacher who has to take a criminal to a distant city in the desert in Algeria in the 50s. Slow but really enjoyed it. Virgo Mortensen stars in it, had no idea he could speak fluent French ( he really has built up a very varied filmography over the years). One of the best actors working imo
SPOILER ALERT. Far from Men is from a short story by Albert Camus. It’s set in Algeria, which at the time was a French colony. That captor is French, ie ruling minority; the captive is an Arab, ie oppressed majority. Captor has to take captive to be tried and probably executed. It’s not an easy journey. Eventually they get close to where they’re heading. They come to a fork in the road and the Frenchman lets the Arab take the other path. It’s a very good film with a lot more too it than first appears.
Had forgotten this one, I saw it on release. Slow and beautiful, must track it down as I think I’d get even more from it now.
It’s worth tracking down the Camus short story if you can. It’s an easy read. I regard Camus as one of the great writers of the 20th century – not so much for L’Étranger, but mostly for La Peste. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature, but was tragically killed quite young in car crash. He was himself Algerian by birth, a “pied-noir”, the term applied to the French who lived in Algeria. The story of the successfui fight of the Algerians for independence is fascinating, and if you can find an old film called The Battle of Algiers it’s well worth watching. One of the reasons De Gaulle came to the Presidency was the belief that he would successfully put down the Algerian rebellion; but he ultimately realised that an occupying force can’t resist determined and organised local resistance (compare Vietnam) and let it go. That’s the background to The Day of the Jackal, where a bunch of French diehards bitterly opposed to what he had done hired the Jackal to kill him in revenge for his “betrayal”.
I’m with you, the collection of essays, The Myth of Sisyphus, is also a great read, excellent introduction to other philosophers but also very approachable for anyone. He was troublingly young when he wrote so much of this stuff, if it wasn’t so enjoyable I’d be crippled by envy. Big loss to the world at a time when thinkers/writers were still very influential in world affairs.
