Whiplash has two of the all time best acting jobs.
Original was meant to be two movies with the first one being focused on him growing up and the Jackson 5
The second film starts when he released thriller and his career through the 80s,90s,2000s
Pity it’s not produced by Marvel.
Could have had “Rise of the Off-White Fiddler” and then “Fiddler: Origins”.
There surely should be a law against making money from the glorification of paedophiles.
Apparently there were a lot of reshoots and the film was significantly delayed, after some of the kids involved pointed out that there were non-disparagement agreements in place as part of the legal settlements which the film in its original form was breaching. Which kinda implies that the original cut of the film probably portrayed him as completely innocent and the allegations as cash grabs.
Independence Day is dumb as a sack of hammers and that is part of what makes it Awesome.
Good Fortune was pretty good. Laughed a fair bit.
Watched both of these on ABC IView the last two weekends. Neither were great. If I had to pick one I’d go with Perfect Murder (6/10). The other one scrapes in a 5/10.
Why do movie/TV directors insist on filming directly into bright lights such as torches and car headlights? Does anybody actually enjoy looking at a dazzling, blinding glare?
moths
When judging films by how well they achieved the vision and goals of their filmmakers, few do it better than Independence Day.
Was it a genuine expression of artistic passion? No
Was it trying to win awards? No
Was it trying to send a message or make the viewer think more deeply about the world? No
Was it a big dumb blockbuster with awesome special effects and mindless jingoism? Hell yes.
I think A Perfect Murder is pretty good actually. It’s a sort of remake of Hitchcock’s Dial M for Murder. Michael Douglas is a very good actor.
The wet work scene sticks in the memory.
It was certainly the better of the two. Again, not great but kept me entertained. Score wise maybe it was more a 7 than 6/10. The other one was pretty meh. Not sure what it was. I think Gosling and the other character was annoying me. Prob not Sandra Bullocks best work.
Wizard of the Kremlin
Sandra Bullock peaked at Speed. Struggle to think of anything with her in it I’ve enjoyed since.
Miss Congeniality
The Blindside
Birdbox
Gravity
The lost city
etc…
she’s done pretty well
The one where the guy loses a testicle by getting impaled on a pencil. She was good in that
Derwent one of his knackers?
Staedtler I believe.
Gravity was alright, I think it suffered by coming out at the same time as Interstellar which I really liked. I’ve watched the Blindside a couple of times, just my opinion but it was meh.
I think I just don’t like her as an actress but for some context I also can’t stand Nicole Kidman.
edit. I just google a few of her movies on your list that I haven’t seen. They are not great reviews.
He was hoping for a HJ but he got HB instead
