Son wanted to go and see Predator Badlands so we went today. Just got back.
I thought it was really well done. Fun, relaxed and different.
Using the comic book lore from what my son says.
Bugonia. One weird film, but well worth a watch if you’re looking for something a bit different.
playdate and roofman are about as bad as big stars (atempting to) making fun action movies can get.
Easy Rider - 1969(?)
I guess you had to be there (and then)
4/10
One battle after another - 2025
I am only 20 minutes in and it seems kind of ■■■■ and overhyped.
Will come back and give it another try when I’m in the mood.
I am sure I read here some others ■■■■ canned it.
So far 3/10
Funny you say that. I had the opposite reactions. I was there in 1969 and watched the original release in the cinema in a suitably altered state of consciousness, but I didn’t really think it was all that great at the time (although it was heresy to say so openly back then). Then I re-watched it about 5 years ago on a large screen TV and realised it’s a great movie.
Yep, all the PTA indicators but just irritating and tonally confused, maybe intentionally. Sean Penn is pretty great but this talk of diCaprio masterclass is so off. He’s just doing the muddle brained bit, slight improv which is really just second guessing his lines and otherwise goofing about. Will give the second half a chance but left me cold
Is there any context or importance to the story for the ‘let’s ■■■■ while there’s an explosion’ ‘old guy having a flog while watching the lady taking hostages’…cause I couldn’t find any.
Watched the original for the first time tonight and was immensely underwhelmed.
For all the talk of the film being a classic and given the generally high regard in which it is held, I was very disappointed.
The DVD also came with a Director’s Cut, but I can’t see myself ever wasting my time on it.
New Frankenstein is a good watch.
G del Toro remains a master of monster design and aesthetic.
For further evidence see Hellboy 2 Golden Army and Pans Labyrinth
I saw the original Wicker Man on free-to-air TV, in pre-streaming days. I was channel-hopping one night and came upon it just as it was starting. I’d heard the title but knew nothing about it and therefore was expecting nothing, and from the moment I started watching I was gripped. There were a few times as I watched where I thought it was not quite right, and there was a kind of amateurish feel about it, but I watched right to the end, where I could hardly believe what was happening. The same as I felt about the ending of The Vanishing.
Nuremberg 2025
Russell Crowe, Rami Malek, Michael Shannon
A really good old fashioned movie…no explosions, no gun shots, no car chases…just lots on engaging dialogue and good acting.
Russell Crowe back to his best as Goering.
Well worth watching.
New knives out is decent enough. First hour really drags. Last hour is very good- though if you have watched enough murder mysteries you will pick it
Brolin and Craig are fanstatic. The rest, are ok
Noticed it was 2.5 hours.
Thought the guy who plays Father Jud was better than Ok
Yeah he was alright, but he was so overshadowed by Craig whenever they are on screen together
Watched most of the OG Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It has some genuine terrifying and uncomfortable moments. Some really good and really bad acting. A battle to get through.
5/10
No need to watch unless you are curious.
