At the movies - From the couch

I liked Tenet, but I don’t mind that the plot made zero friggin’ sense.
I wasn’t a fan of any of the acting, including mopey lady.
The development of The Protagonist as a character was…non-existent.
But still, I liked it for the good things in it.

Bale as Batman is completely carried by the strength of the rest of the films, and if there’s not a YouTube montage somewhere of him as Batman appearing…developmentally challenged…then I’d be surprised.

Oh wow.
Silly me.
Branagh as evil Russian guy was outstanding.
Don’t I feel foolish now.

Is it really CGI heavy? looked that way from the trailer. I like Tom Hanks but he hasn’t made a great movie in quite a while. Seems to pick very safe roles these days.

I didn’t notice it. I mean its ww2 ships focussed purely on the stress and decisions of a captain responsible for a fleet.

Shot in sort of a 24 show style.

That’s who it was! i couldn’t think of his name while watching it, i knew he looked familiar. I left straight after the end so didn’t see his name on the credits

i had to double check, to make sure that was his rig.
damn he’s been in a good paddock.

We’re having a debate about acting in superhero movies :joy:

Nolan’s Batman is Shakespeare compared to Marvel.

I mean…Ledger won an Oscar…

Id watch a Nolan movie just to watch Caine, he’s always brilliant even if its basically playing the same character every time. He’s just a watchable actor.

Caine has so much charisma. A joy to watch in anything he does.

Nolan loves him, always makes sure he puts him in every one of his movies

He’s good value.
But in Tenet his scene seems veeeeery tacked on, not plot-wise (he introduces the minor Maguffin) more just…and now, here’s Michael Caine.

Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman is a combo that cant disappoint.

l haven’t seen Tenet so can’t comment on it, but love Memento, it is a unique movie from different perspectives and it works at all the levels it touches on.

Thats not his new missus in the photo. But some are floating about, a fair bit fitter than ol Russ.

Some girls really do put power, money and charisma waaaaay above physical health/youthfulness.

Fatman… what a disappointment! Thought it was going to be up there with Sharknado… it wasn’t!

I like John Cleese, Bill Murray & Rowan Atkinson.
Special mention Jim Carrey.

Just watched Hustlers. Not too bad. Jennifer Lopez was great in it.

Greyhound was written by Hanks. If anyone is interested, here’s a chat with Hardcore History podcaster Dan Carlin.

Well its certainly written with himself in mind. Theres literally no other roles to compete with him on it.

I think he’d been trying to sell the story and the only way he could get finance was to star in it. More driven by love of the subject than self glorification.

Watched Tenet last night and man that wasn’t fun. Even if you had a Physics major I reckon you’d have walked out barely knowing what the fark just happened. The sound mixing was really poor too so half the time you couldn’t decipher what the characters were saying as it was so muffled. Meh. Onto the next!
