Good movie, a bit different, I enjoyed it.
going to see tenet tomorrow and supporting a local business so idc if the movies ■■■■, just going to be good to finally go see something since march
nothing to add. just sharing these two posts
rather tenet than young mutants
Sweet. I’ll be sure to just pluck a random comment of yours and say nothing to add just sharing this post. Insightful
reckon you’ve missed the mark H_D, simmos saying those comments summarise his thoughts.
Without putting any spoilers I think the muffling of voices was deliberate.
And I think the premise its all pure fantasy, not sure if physics really has that much to do with it.
I would watch again if I could have subtitles.
ok fine
I agree that Nolan is a very overrated director and I also agree that the sound mixing in his movies is often quite poor making it difficult to hear expositionary dialogue.
that better?
Much better. At least I know what you mean now and what your intent is.
Just watched On The Basis of Sex - the true story of Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg. (Sorry guys, it’s not about sex!) I really enjoyed it - quite inspirational. It’s about her life’s work in combatting gender discrimination. On Netflix.
cheers for the reminder, I’d been meaning to watch this!
Yeah, that’ll do this eve.
Finally got around to watching Zero Dark 30 last night.
Just finished watching the new Mulan.
A beautiful film in every way with little to complain about.
They should send it to cinemas as it would have been without Covid.
Watched Tenet last night.
Visually stunning as usual but the plot is so convoluted that the characters stop every two minutes to explain what’s actually happening. It feels like 2/3 of the film is exposition.
Whoever the sound designer was on the film should never be allowed to work again. The soundtrack was so loud that it muffled almost all the dialogue. In a dialogue heavy film it can become quite frustrating.
John David Washington walks and sounds like his dad but has about 1/10 of the talent.
I think Nolan needs to give the time bending stories a rest for a while and concentrate on story and good characters.
i saw it at the sun theatre, and had no issues with the sound design.
I hadn’t read much about it previously so wasn’t expecting it.
I have read a few reviews this morning and it was mentioned in almost all of them.
You must have got lucky.
I tried at a Village Maxx for the first time, never again. Damaging levels of volume courtesy of the cinema I presume, but frequencies pulled up in the mix that were deliberate, just ear shattering. Hated the experience and thought the film was just silly and tedious. Quite like most of his films for the visceral thrills and higher intelligence than your average action/drama
yeah i don’t doubt either of your experiences, but maybe the sun theatre has more capable staff? idk not to say the movie was good or bad but i had the sound (especially dialogue) come through quite cearly.
in fact i generally find mandalorian dialogue can be poorly mixed.
I think there’s a lot of mixing going on that caters to new consumer tech like Dolby atmos, there’s an assumption most people have something fairly recent in their lounge rooms/home cinemas. My set up is ok but old and I have trouble hearing dialogue in shows like Mandalorian, and don’t get me started on dark scenes. Old man’s massive new tv and Sonos set up is a very different story however.
yep i bought a samsung soundbar with all that for precisely that reason, everything comes through clearly, but when im at the parents, their crappy samsung surround system from 5+ years ago everything just muddied.
now im not going to say a soundbar fixes everything but its a hell of a lot better than the POS speakers you get on tvs now.
