At the movies - From the couch

People generally dont like blended story timelines, and also gosling is a pretty ■■■■ leading man imo. honestly hail mary should’ve been damon again

I’ve no issue with the blended timelines , but I did find the movie in its entirety gruelling and quite tough to get through.

Yes. One of those increasingly common times where I note the glowing praise from all corners and wonder if I’ve gone insane or early onset demented, or the world has indeed become a vastly dumber place with no standards. A bit of both maybe. What a massive heap of ■■■■.

This is a good read, 50th anniversary. Amazing film, great songs, just bizarre really, and I never knew it was a British production.

I read about the movie when it came out and wrote it off as one to avoid, but then I came upon it while channel surfing one time and started watching. It’s a really great movie. Although the whole concept is farcical, it’s played completely straight by everyone, and that’s what makes it funny.

I saw it as a kid and i’ve seen it a couple of times since on tv, it’s just beautifully done, but i’m sure there’s a big nostalgia factor for me. The songs are very memorable and enhance the whole thing, and I tend to hate musicals. Good to learn more about how it was made, makes me admire it more.

Odysseus may be an awesome movie. I’ll probably see it. However

Matt Damon giving the battle cry, ‘Let’s goooooooo’ in the trailer makes me giggle barely controllably.

I thought it was fantastic.

Absolute cinema.

Edit: I do think there was a better movie in there. But it was good. Rocky is awesome.

Amaze! Amaze! Amaze!

Edit: edit: The isolation and desolation could have been…better shown. In just a few moments.

I really hope the odyssey is good.

I had the same anticipation for Napoleon but that sucked.

An ageing Ridley Scott did Napoleon

Christopher Nolan has done The Odyssey!!!

I had zero anticipation for Napoleon and it fully deserved it. I have zero anticipation for Odyssey. Why? Because from the trailer and everything else we know about it, it will be a typical modern Hollywood blockbuster with thudding, deafening sound track and fight scenes featuring flying body parts and spurting blood and look like every other Hollywood blockbuster epic. I hope I’m wrong, but that’s what I expect. It’s nearly 3 hours long, too, so there will be a lot of everything. Probably far too much of everything.

Recently watched Waterloo. Fantastic movie. Can’t believe I hadn’t seen it til now

I learnt so much about napoleon during that , than I did during that rubbish Ridley Scott film. I went into the Ridley movie knowing nothing about napoleon, and walked out still knowing nothing

In Waterloo- I loved the inner monologue of some of the characters that gave you insight into their mind.never seen that done before, really liked it

Seems brief, considering.

I love Nolan but I have never liked swords and sandals movies. Should I go see it?
