Batman The Animated Series was great. Mark Hamill is probably the greatest Joker ever.
Films I like but donāt need to see again:
The Mist, Life Is Beautiful.
I watched āBand Aidā last night.
One of those good, but not enjoyable, movies.
All shame dingdongs
I personally prefer the Natural to Field of Dreams. Completely agree about Easy Rider ā for a long time I wrote it off as a product of its times but happened to see it again on Foxtel and realised that it really was great after all. Another truly great film from that time is Bonnie and Clyde.
I thought Memento was just a glorified gimmick movie, and Lives of Others never really grabbed me. I donāt know the others.
Another couple of movies I really like are:
Gran Torino
Million Dollar Baby
They wouldnāt make my top 5 though.
Has anyone read that apparently Topher Grace of That 70s Show fame personally edited all the entire prequel trilogy of Star Wars into one film. Heās shown it to others in private screenings and apparently itās incredible. I would love to see it.
I just canāt possibly boil this down to 5. 5 per genre perhaps.
That said Iāve found over the last decade or so quality box tv had gone past film as my preferred story telling vehicle
Action/sci fi
- aliens
- predator
- die hard
- Terminator
- Batman begins
Thriller/crime
- silence of the lambs
- seven
- Shashank
- the game
- no country for Old men (this could just as easily be Fargo)
Other (stuff I just watch if it was on tv no matter how far through)
- fight club
- tombstone
- true romance
- fifth element
- City of the lost children
- the prestige (really, anything Nolanās touched)
- ex machina
- arrival
- Bourne identity
- dead poets
- the big short
- good will hunting
- platoon
- Raiders of the lost Ark
- a new Hope
- Gladiator
- top gun
- the hunt for red October
- patriot games
- mad Max 2
- the incredibles
- matrix
- the deer Hunter
- taxi driver
- heat
I could go on, really this is impossible.
Theres a guy on YouTube that has done the same thing. IIRC it goes for about 3 hours. Pretty good just as a recap of the prequels, but a bit janky as a true movie.
Impossible for me to do.
Here are some that spring to mind
Contact
Brazil
Avalon
The Matrix
Life is Beautiful
Fargo
Good call on The Incredibles. Great flick.
Man, I hope theyāve put some thought into the sequel, because Finding Dory was pretty dire.
Gone Baby Gone - best thing either Affleck brother has ever done.
Gonna offend some people hereā¦Gone Baby Gone seemed like every midday āwoman in perilā movie I ever did see.
I donāt watch midday movies.
Great calls on Top Gun and Hunt for Red October as well. love those movies.
I like Patriot Games and The Fugitive but they definitely would not reach a top 10 list.
Anyone else remember when Pixar occasionally made films that WERENāT sequels?
Make a call, fence sitterā¦
Before the Disney takeover
Ratatouille was a great movie.
