l bought this on DVD here in Chongqing last week, based on this info. Now l want to see if can find Head On, but l don’t like my chances.
Went and saw Incredibles 2 yesterday with the kiddies. Awesome, just as fast and entertaining as the first. Plenty of laughs for older ones.
Went and saw Sicario - Day if the Soldado by myself today, absolutely loved it. That is exactly my type of movie. Fast, action, violent, but all part of the overal story line. Josh Brolin and Del Toro are just flaming fantastic.
JUST TAKE MY MONEY NOW!
I watched All About Eve last night for the first time. I’d recorded it during foxtel’s 90 years of oscars series.
It’s an excellent film and won the best picture oscar back in 1950s. It tells the story of Eve as she makes her way from obscurity to stardom on broadway. The highlight is Bette Davis who is superb as the ageing star, Margot. She steals the film’s focus notwithstanding the title. To be fair the “younger talented woman versus older established star” is a key theme of the film but her performance as Margot outstrips Anne Baxter’s as Eve by some degree it almost (but not quite) undermines the film.
George Sanders is also excellent as the acerbic and cynical theatre critic, Addison de Witt.
The film contains some wonderful dialogue and lines and also features a young Monroe in a small but unmissable role. I didn’t recognise her in the two scenes she was in but I couldn’t tell you who else was in those scenes either since I spent the whole scene watching her - mesmerising.
Highly recommend.
I watched it for the first time a few months ago. Not enough whizz-bangs for the unwashed masses though.
True. There’s a distinct lack of explosions and no one has superpowers.
There are some special effects with the blue screen being used from time to time. But that’s still more believable than any special effects Michael Bay has ever used.
How’s the foley work?
Oh please
Nothing has ever been more realistic than a CGI Optimus prime riding a dinosaur transformer through a city.
To be fair, knowing Michael Bay, it was probably one of the more plausible events to occur in the movie.
There’s a fantastic Doco I saw last year airing on the ABC at 9:20 tonight about Film Music Scores.
Highly recommended.
Ant Man 2 a return to Thor 2 levels of “well, that’s a movie” interest.
Just a rental will do.
really? that sucks. I will go see it on Saturday with lowered expectations.
To me, it’s weird that they can go from Thor’s inter-universe complete destruction of life to ‘hey here’s a funny movie with Paul Rudd who’s not funny’.
The stakes are so high in the other Marvel movies it’s a good idea for them to make some movies that are a smaller scale with more relatable stakes. And that’s what they tried here. It’s just … boring.
Apart from Bryce Dallas Howard Jurassic world sucks big brown brontosaurus balls.
Think you guys are too old.
My kids loved Jurassic World and Antman & Wasp
I took my 5 year old daughter not realising the rating. She thought it neither good or bad. She was just terrified. And I was dealt with in a similar style of a T. rex when her mother found out.
Haha, yeah my boys are 9 and 11 and it blew their minds…
I had been warned they might be scared or cry… the youngest was sad at one stage but was ok
