At the movies

Look Sac if you like action, things that blow up and fights IMO watch Venom if you don’t like then IMO go watch some JLO piece of ■■■■ movie. The only good JLO movie is The Cell.

Great visuals and design work.

Prolly belongs in the what annoys thread, but my kid’s school just asked for votes on which movie they should pick for movie night in the local park. 10 options, all disney/WB/Hollywood. I pleaded for an alternative Australian option. FFS. OK, Australian options are limited, but anyone would think they don’t exist at all.

And I just watched Suburban Mayhem on SBS, was pretty good, I thought. Cannot get Mrs CB to watch any film with me that isn’t mainstream US. Hence we don’t watch many films together.

Like l said, great visuals.:sunglasses:

Normally Adam Sandler movies are an absolute no go, but it bears absolutely no resemblance to anything else he’s done. It’s the definite exception to the rule

How about suggesting some Japanese animation from Studio Gibhli and Hayao Miyazaki, such as the excellent My Neighbour Totoro?

Is the movie night for kids or parents? If kids, how about Kenny? Kids love poo jokes.

If adults, how about Ladies in Black? Good fun and won’t offend anyone.

Went to see A Star is Born last night. Not bad, but it didn’t really grab me (or Mrs S). Probably didn’t help that I could only understand about one word in five that Bradley Cooper spoke, and basically nothing at all that Sam Elliott said.

For kids. I suggested Paper Planes or Oddball, which seem to have good reviews.
We’re well into the poo/fart/bum joke phase here.

So you have watched a sandler movie.

My favourite Adam Sandler movie is not a comedy, but a post 9/11 drama, Reign Over Me. Given great support by Don Cheadle.

Down hill from there on. He just pumps out ■■■■■ on Netflix now and somehow attracts talent like Nicolson and Pacino.

Watching the meg at the moment. Formulaic but some really good action. CGI actually looks real.

MORE. MARVEL. DRIVEL.
