At the movies

Choosing between Dallas buyers club and captain Phillips for tonight, which is the one to go for?

Captain philips

Shutter island is my favourite Leo movie.
Never really a
Liked mystic river.
Should watch Prisoners with Hugh Jackman, his daughter goes missing. Just came out on dvd

I read a LOT of crime fiction and usually by halfway through, I think "if they end up with this solution, I'll think it's utter tripe"...Shutter Island did. I don't care if Clark Gable, Jimmy Stewart and Marilyn Monroe (naked) came back from the dead to appear in it, I wouldn't watch it.
And Lehane's written some ripper books. He did a follow-up nine or ten years later to GBG.

With Marilyn Monroe naked? Really. C'mon, you'd watch that, wouldn't you? It's not as though you'd be following the plot line anyway, is it?
OK then...Veronica Lake, Kim Novak, Rita Hayworth, Gene Tierney or gloria Grahame then.

Looking for a good mystery/crime type film. Any recommendations?

Se7en

Bone Collector

Identity

The Game (with Mchael Douglas)

Seen them all.

Ended up watching The Interview with Hugo Weaving

I assume you've seen Insomnia.

Also how fkg annoying are all these jokes and all this coverage given to the fact that Leo Di Caprio has never won an Oscar. Honestly who gives a flyer

Great film. As funny as Robin Williams can be, he does a great job at being a really creepy guy. See One Hour Photo if you need more proof.

Couldn't go wrong with either, but geez Hanks was hard done by in the best actor nominations for his role. Great film!!

Monuments Men was very average, explains why it was pushed back after the Oscars.

The new 300. Fell asleep in the cinema.

Yep was very average. I wanted to see the Spartans not some normal Greek guys.

Has anybody managed to get through Cloud Atlas?

Yep. Actually enjoyed it. Really liked how the main actors changed parts. Most impressed with Hugh Grant's transformation.

from only watching the promo's, Sullivan Stapleton must have a clause in his contracts that he has to ■■■■ at least one chick per ep/movie is he in. Always rooting some bird in strike back and now in this. must be so hard being at actor.

Must be hard for him pretending and not getting "excited".
Didn't have a problem with the acting (albeit I watched it in dubbed Italian so was more difficult to tell) and I like Eva Green, she was fantastic in Casino Royale. However violence which has animated blood is only interesting for so long.

Saw monuments men, what garbage. They had a pretty cool cast, but didn’t really use them well at all.screw you clooney

Eva Green...The Dreamers...set in Paris in 1968 with the guy who played Jimmy in Boardwalk Empire. Proficient nudity on all parts.

Expect more of her in Sin City 2

Going to see The Monuments Men tomorrow in Gold Class with my best mate.

Looking forward to it, hoping it lives up to the reviews, at the very least it is a good meal and a day off work.

l enjoyed it greatly. Some of the most ambitious story telling ever attempted on film. The multiple characters also worked well, the only one who didn't impress me much was Jim Sturgess trying to play a Korean. Agree with above, Hugh Grant was mighty impressive.

Prisoners was a great movie, much better then I expected.

Watched The Counsellor with fassbender and some other high profile actors, found it really slow and just did nothing for me

Every review I've read of this said it is REALLY pox!

Watched "Kill Your Darlings" on the weekend. Miss mcgoved is doing a creative arts degree and is really into writing, acting, poetry etc. so it was mainly for her benefit that yours truly sat through this. Apparently based on a true story about the meeting of Alan Ginsberg, Jack Kerouak and William Burroughs at Columbia University in the 40s. Their catalyst in all this was Lucien Carr - a user of the highest order. The acting and cinematography was quite brilliant in parts. Found the story a bit self indulgent. Lots of drugs, homosexuality and university shennanigans to be had. Harry Potter has certainly come of age.
