You spelt T20 wrong.
there’s definitely an archetype that covers all three of them, just needs a title or descriptor that doesn’t come off as misogynistic
aus versions of uk shows, i don’t think are frequent and/or enduring enough to warrant being aus slop
Any time FTA TV networks have coverage for an international level event (Aus Open, Olympics, etc.) and the hosts/commentators focus almost exclusively on the Aussies. The praise is over the top while the criticism is done in that “at least they tried their best” sympathetic tone. The international athletes who win their events get a fraction of the attention by comparison.
outstanding nomination
it’s even worse when you know a little bit about the sport in question. “oh and we can follow the progress of michael matthews, he’s a chance!” no he’s not. shut up.
The use of over the top adjectives (to gain clicks) in modern media.
I agree, but I never really got into T20s to begin with.
People who travel to Bali (especially the ones who go regularly) and stay in Australian styled resorts and only drink/eat at Australian themed bars/clubs just to save a few hundred dollars each trip, rather than boost our own local economy.
Then ‘barter’ on the beaches in the hope of saving the equivalent of 50 cents on some cheap t-shirt.
Trailer trash.
Does caring about the “footy” count?
Newspapers rattling off school rankings around VCE results time and doing sales pitches for “elite” private schools.
i think the type here is claiming to go anywhere in se asia for the “culture”, but then doing this
i reckon being honest about it gets a pass
Yep. Go for the “culture” and “experience” …
Then do this.
Like going to Japan and eating pizza and McDonalds every day. Just stay home, FFS.
no
poking fun of anyone’s enthusiasm about their passions or interests is dckhead behaviour
Each to their own. We go to Bali a couple of times per year every year and likewise other SEA countries and stay more upmarket hotels or villas but no bartering and definitely not eating “Aussie” food. It’s just nice to get away for a while. Already done the cultural stuff over the years so it’s mostly just relaxation time now in Bali.
We eat out every night in Australia and just enjoy good food wherever it is
Please don’t think I’m referring to EVERY Australian traveller to Bali or south-east Asia.
But I’m sure in your experiences there, like mine, you have seen many examples of what I was referring to.
The locals are made of strong stuff to tolerate a lot of the ■■■■ they have to see and put up with. The counter argument would be that these same people are helping them pay their bills and survive, fair enough, but it’s no justification for the behaviour they are subjected to.
Absolutely the cop plenty and it’s unacceptable. We have our share of idiots no doubt but they also get treated poorly by visitors from all corners of the globe.
I can understand why some with limited budgets choose to go there over staying here though. Prices in Australia for many is simply unaffordable for many
Fair enough. Nothing brings a sense on ennui to me more than people at work talking about their teams matches on the weekend. I’m not annoyed, but definitely feel dreary. But I assume that it’s not a broader thing, just me….
I think if people can afford the airfares, accomodation and everything that goes with, for example, a 10-day stay in Bali they can afford a 4-5 day stay somewhere in Australia that helps support the economy at home.
Plenty will disagree and maybe a bit harsh… but again, just my opinion.
Insert arbitrary shock jock lite:
Karl / Kyle / John Laws / Alan Jones
This song gets a pass for me because of the very tenuous link it gives him to The Germs.
Yeah, that’s fair enough but a family going to Bali for 10 days can be far cheaper than going to the Gold Coast for a week.
When our lad was a kid we took him to Zhong Kong Disneyland every year as it was cheaper than going to the Gold Coast theme parks
