Only parties are listed above the line on the Senate ballot paper. Most people are too lazy to vote below the line even if it’s for well known people like Hanson, Palmer, Xenophon, Pocock, etc. So they all form parties to have a chance of winning a Senate seat.

Yeah, this is the level of thing that should see her lose the communications portfolio.

She also holds the sports portfolio, so it wouldn’t relegate her to the backbench, but it seems to be a very clear cut abuse of taxpayer money. It cannot be justified.

This one is of interest to Victorian public servants.

With you on this one, but reckon more questions to be answered on this one.

Minister Wells’ return commercial flights to New York cost $34,426.58, her deputy chief of staff’s cost $38,165, and the flight of the online safety assistant secretary, who flew two days earlier, cost $22,236.31.

A first-class Qantas return flight from Canberra to New York was available for about $16,000 yesterday.

Accommodation and transport costs for the trio in New York were $24,275, they were in New York three days.

The Party they threw cost $70,000 which is the least of the scandal.

Questions will be asked. Answers will be given. Then carry on as usual.

Given on notice, then 9 months later at 4:55pm on the day before the Grand Final they’ll be released as a 27 page document that is entirely redacted due to ‘commercial in confidence’.

Some truly bizarre costings there.

Be interesting to see who that was as Qantas don’t operate first on that route

Qantas use American Airlines LA to JFK

Numbers are from Today’s Age report.

I don’t usually care about these things, but $38000 to fly to New York and return is extreme

I’m well aware of that but you can often get Emirates at a better price and the figures look rubbery as anything.

It seems well over the top. Going rate is no more than about $30-32k and that’s without and discounts. Government are getting fleeced if they are paying $38k

All of the prices are over the top considering there was no farking need for the trip.

Seriously farking Government should get massive discounts for travel.

Yeah but how do you know if it’s the kind of place that you need to assess for a suss without sending somebody for a squiz?

a $30,000 squiz.

If only there was a govt owned airline…
