Energy wise the ALP are streets ahead of the Libs.
Housing affordability is just pie in the sky stuff that neither party can or will fix
I have said many, many times I wasnât in favor of the nuclear policy.
By the same token, I donât think anyone has a high level of confidence in Australia meeting its renewables targets whilst avoiding blackouts in future. If you did youâre probably naive and overly fanatical to what youâre being promised.
Nuclear was never going to happen and would have us even further behind any sort of target other than âhow can we run up the most horrific debt for no benefit whatsoever in the shortest possible time frameâ.
If Adam Bandt loses his seat, who will lead the Greens party?
donât waste your time brother, the bloke invents his own reality
There is a fkn long way to go in the Melbourne count. Disregard the ABC projection.
The AEC has only processed about 6% of the vote for TCP, largely postal which very heavily favours ALP in this race.
I donât know which way it will go, but itâs going to be <1% margin on TCP I suspect.
I agree. But part of me wishes to say that if itâs ok to run up astronomical debt for the future infrastructure needs of the city of Melbourne as valid reason to lean in on the SRL, it could reasonably be argued that for the long term reliability of this countries energy supply, then itâs worth the long term investment (debt) in nuclear as its involvement in that parties policy could mean more reliability / less blackouts.
So do you. You stick togetherâŚ
good one David
I was told most of the internal Dutton hate comes from religious conservatives in NSW Liberals. There is one particular person who funds the rightwing godbotherers. Same Bloke is funding Moira Demming fighting to bankrupt John Pesutto, moderates are under attack and leaving Party.
That would have been the case 25 years ago when they could have said âour coal plants are going offline in about 20 years time, letâs do a sensible transition with well-planned and resourced projects to reduce transition problems and to keep costs from blowing out so we can all have a better futureâ. Instead they bickered and argued as the coal clock kept ticking, pocketed all those sweet, sweet mining donations, and then declared âletâs build a bunch of fantasy reactors in the next few years, donât look at the details and trust us on the cost, broâ.
They can fark right off into the oblivion they have goose-stepped themselves into.
Gina would have a larger capacity than Wallaâs bin.
The lunatics like Antic are the ones trying to destroy the Libs from the inside. Going forward if ainât a god botherer donât bother applying
After Howard, Abbott, Scomo and Dutton were way to far to the right for Australias moderately left leaning populace. They also came across as misogynist, to varying degrees, almost
Iike they did not realise that 50% of voters are women. The person intellectually superior to all of them, Malcolm Turnbull was far closer to the middle and adopted many policies now seen as core to the ALP. However, Turnbull was seen by many as an urbane silvertail, even though his family was poor and he came from a broken home. He was a self made person, who mĂ de it to good schools through merit.
Alas, had Turnbull continued and held the Liberal ship closer to the middle the Libs would be in better shape. Instead the recent version of the liberal party went way to far to the right to be acceptable to mainstream Australia.
Do you recall, it was Dutton and others in the far right wing who shafted Turnbull. Look at Dutton now. Karma Bus !
sshhh⌠Angus would be a great Leader of the Opposition.
In fairness, that IS what the Libs do best.
Exactly. Government canât do anything about housing prices. Neg gearing and CGT is just tinkering around the edges.
The best way to get your kids into property is to buy an investment property with them, keep ir for ten years then sell it to give them a deposit.
But people donât want to wait. They want 4 bedrooms 3 bathrooms media room double story, double garage, close to work and transport now!
Buy where you can afford and rent where you want to live.
Turnbull didnât come from a poor home.He made a lot about living with his father in a rental property after his mother left, but it was hardly Housing Commission in the Towers and they werenât on welfare.
His father was a hotel broker.
He married a Wentworth.
What he did have going for him was Lucy having her own career and a voice.
ADD
There are similarities between Rudd and Turnbull in that they didnât come up through the Party machine. Most tellingly, neither of them had a faction and thatâs what doomed them.
They might not be able to do much but that doesnât mean they just throw their hands in the air and collectively ignite the next price surge. Governments, both state and federal have collectively failed on housing affordability for many years. And the problem will only get worse with these policies, and they know it.
So true! Kids these days need to put down the avocado toast and oat lattes and tighten their belts.
Fkg spare me
