What happened on the West Gate yesterday was a disgrace. How that sort of thing can happen, paralyse a major city on its commute was an embarrassment. They should be put in jail. Simple as that.

Governments always reflect the majority position.
Do a poll and the vote against todays protest would be 90% against, in spite of the reality of a bleak future due to climate change from humans destroying the planet.
You can still protest without disrupting the lives of those wanting to get to work or hospital to enable their wife to give birth
yeah although trying to control the forum for protest and dissent is a big part of why weāre here in the first place

I have been involved in violent protests on many things since the Springbok tour in 1971, and the motivation of protesters is never the same for everyone and some are there for other reasons.
All disruption of people trying to live their life does is alienate them further.

Iād be more concerned losing 1,000 troops per day. For another year, or two, that leaves over 1 Million dead, plus civilians and Ukrainians.

Exaggeration aside, I get where the protestors are coming from. The environmental movement has been freaking out about global warming for the past 40 years. Right now, they are watching everything they feared and predicted and were mocked about, come true. And because theyāre a bunch of idealistic starry-eyed fools and scientists who think that niceness pays and that people will make the a sensible informed decision if we only calmly present the facts in a non-confrontational way., weāve had 40 years of nice and polite and patient, and David Attenborough putting helpful little reminders at the ends of his documentaries. Weāve rallied peacefully in our hundreds of thousands. But the bastards win at every turn and the fkg earthās climatic system is now circling the drain. And all the talking heads are now finger-wagglingly telling us that, when facing absolutely literal civilisation-ending extinction-level apocalypse, the answer is ā¦ to be fkg nice some more?
I donāt know what the actual answer is, how to shove the country and the planet onto a trajectory which might mean that human civilisation can continue to exist in a recognisable form over the next 50 years. If I did, Iād be out there doing that. But acting as though the secret is to keep following the same soft, polite, apologetic, nice strategy which has spectacularly failed continually for the last 40 years, is just delusional.
Fk me, some people would have had a fit of the vapours if Britain in 1940 had been so rude as to fail to send Hitler a Christmas card. Apocalypses call for actual action. Your descendants, if theyāre lucky enough to survive what is very probably coming, can thank these people later.
