  • Andrews jaw wired up after being smashed by Union thugs

I mean, there were a few minor articles about some “Cambridge Analytica” or some rubbish that helped out some minor politician called “Drumpf” or something a while back…

I got told he got beat up by Lindsay Fox’s son.

The mediscare is still a mediscare. Hip replacements in public hospitals are not funded through Medicare.

Sure it’s a great headline “Medicare cuts to hip replacements” but it’s very misleading. Maybe private surgeries or outpatient costs of the surgeon might change. The actual replacement in a public hospital will not change.

Genuine question: if I need a hip replaced will it cost me more under these changes?

From visiting the surgeon, I don’t know. Maybe??

From visiting the public hospital, no, it’s still free.

However, for many, it would be quicker to pay for private health insurance that includes joint replacement (if you don’t have it already) wait the 12 month cooling off period, and then get it done privately. The gap payments are probably worth it.

The public waiting list is just too long for many to wait. Unfortunately many can’t afford to go private.

Medicare covers most medically necessary surgeries like hip replacements . Public patients should have no out-of-pocket expenses for surgery in a public hospital.

From visiting the surgeon - yes, out of pocket expenses increased but able to get hip replacement done in a timely manner.

From visiting a public hospital- still free but extensive waitlist, some as great as 2-3 years.

Going to guess the first one here is a typo??

What do you mean?

Farking LOL

“the long-suffering people of Victoria”

Well, how can they be free in Public Hospitals if they are not funded by Medicare?

I think you meant to say “Private”?

Easy, treatment in public hospitals is free, independently of the source of public hospital funding.

Setting aside the ALP’s ineptitude for a moment, at what point do we say “this government is doing such a poor job that anyone should be beating them”

I would have thought we crossed that point a long time ago now.

Hospitals aren’t funded through Medicare, they are funded jointly from state and federal governments through other mechanisms.

Ok, had to look that up. I always thought all free /Public Hossies and Med Care was funded by Medicare, … probably because you have to have a Medicare card to get it.

Seems, as ever with bureaucracy, it’s not that simple.
