Wasn’t there some land development scandal attached to the location of the Maltby Bypass in the sixties?
Defence Minister Linda Reynolds has retracted a comment calling alleged rape victim Brittany Higgins a “lying cow” and apologised again for making the remark.
Senator Reynolds made the remark after Ms Higgins, a former staffer, went public with her allegation that a colleague had raped her in the Minister’s office in 2019.
She made the comment in front of staff in her office but in a statement today said "she did not mean it in the sense it may have been understood".
Huh?
westy a bit off the mark there.
How so? Reynolds is paying a settlement but from who’s bank account?
LOL!
MSM had reported that Reynolds and Porter were paying for their own lawyers, but as yet nothing on the settlement payout.
It’s hard to keep track of all the land scandals that the Libs have overseen. There was also the one in the '70s that brought down Hamer. (But that also needed boofhead Kennett to white-ant him).
Though it might appeal to those with rich elderly parents
gee idk
Hamer and Thompson were decent politicians, but they carried baggage with the likes of Hunt’s father being forced on them in the Ministry.
‘Appropriate death taxes’
No way!
Most developed countries have an inheritance (or estate) tax.
So ex boyfriend recalls discussion about the rape 30 years ago. The ex had subsequent discussion in the 90’s with Porter. But Porter claims he only just found out. Ooops not the kind of thing you want get caught lying about
managing director at macquarie, wonder if he’ll get tossed as well.
That article is extremely carefully worded. At no point is it mentioned that they had discussions about the alleged rape. Just ‘relevant details’ and discussions about the nature of their relationship. He also states he has concerns for the health of Porter. Honestly could be anything. Not sure what side of the coin he would come down on.
It’s an interesting turn of events. This fellow may have information that clears Porter but the flat-out denial of knowing anything about the claims until only seconds ago complicates things for him.
Given his LNP endorsed sparkling career trajectory, his claims will have more weight in the court of public opinion than say those of Robbo the lawn mower guy.
Or how much coin?
I worked for Hamer when he was Minister for Local Government. He was a really decent man, the only Liberal pollie I’ve ever had any time for.
(It was my first job. I took him his mail in the morning and a cup of tea, among other things. He liked to chat, too — treated me like an adult. I went from there to labouring in the Spencer Street Railway Yards and then on the Waterfront.)
