Australian Politics, Mark II

Penny is a Senator!

Lol

We’ve never got down to that level of detail before and his indifference towards the challenges young people face in the pursuit of housing ownership surprised me quite a bit. I didn’t change his mind at all. He thinks Labor are Marxists who want to destroy ‘our’ way of life. The lesson here is when someone sledges a particular political initiative, don’t ask why because you might not like the response.

Franklin Dam, World Heritage Listing , recourse to the Foreign Affairs treaty powers under the Constitution to override State powers - so corrosive to the relationship at working level .Then I got landed to working with them on something to do with the salmon industry ( knowing they would do me in with the blink of an eye - and they did).Every second week, flights out of Canberra at 6 am, hang around Melbourne Aurport for the connecting flight, would not get home to my place in Canberra till 10 pm after having been exceedingly patient with them all day. And, on the one occasion we had a drink together in Hobart, I made the fatal mistake of ordering a Boags.!
To tell you the truth, I preferred working with the Queenslanders, dodgy as they were.

I’ve travelled the country quite a bit. There’s no Australia other than a continent that was subjugated a couple hundred years ago. The bookies got it wrong this time by, amazingly, not backing self interest.

Tassie has been a rum corps for as long as whitey first started sharting in the creek. Tourism is the future but they’ll fark that as well. The state nearly burned to death this year.

Buying houses? Absolute horseshite people get ahead and fall behind all the time in life (at different ages) and many fall by the wayside.

Ask yourself this, is housing a commodity, a privilege or a necessity?

Would love to see exit polls / demographics once everything is all settled.

Strange, Tasmania, for whatever reason, has the lowest education standards of any State and is lagging in health.
As to that Millet painting - it may have rocked the elites and the art establishment, but the reality is, that , when the peasants get the vote, they vote conservative

I am in Regensburg Germany. It was the hive of Nazism in the 1930’s so it is a bit like living where you are Mate, and what the rest of Oz is becoming.

Disappointing result, but we have lost Elections before, and I already know that most Voters in Australia are selfish, racist and stupid. Not yet time to review that whole sad event.

In any case @benfti it confirms my decision to move my entire business to USA and go live in some place where I can sit on the beach and not give a fark. Spain is looking OK, but maybe Cuba.

Actually may not even come back as planned. It is beer tasting time here in Bavaria, and the Bombers won so all is not lost.

Counted prepolls tonight. Seat that was looking like independent taking over. Nope. Turned into a contest between Nats and Libs. Was depressing to say the least. Could not believe the number of informal votes. In early votes. Then I looked at the country result numbers in the news on a break. WTF. The antics those guys have had and they get returned with more strength than last time? We’re cactus.

Nats have survived but they they are on notice on MDB rorts and climate change. For all the Joyce bravado, he is yesterday’s man and they will move more to the centre on renewables and transparency in decision making.

Mate, I admire your sunny outlook on things. I’m predicting smug bullshit and baseball bats. They’ve just pulled off something amazing. Never lead a poll the whole time. Changed leaders three times. Absolute rip offs to mates. Dutton. We’re in for some pain here my friend.

A few coming off the long run tonight - Fact is the ALP had a comfortable in every published poll and in the exit polls - Internally the Government expected to lose and the ALP expected win - You get these shock results once in a while - ALP in the 1993 Federal Election and the Victorian State Election of 1999 come to mind - So its disingenous to post that Shorten was unelectable, the ALP ran a poor campaign etc, etc, etc.

Whatever happened to the call of the card? Two Fedeal elections in a row the ABC has not done this, But it’s about the only time to get a picture of what people think about across the whole of the Australian continent. SA and WA dismissed in a few minutes, no idea what has happened in my own electorate .

Oh Rupert, you genius! The man’s pulled off the impossible trifecta. Brexit + Trump + ScoMo

Sarcasm aside, if my experience in the USA is any indication, you are going to get everything that ScoMo promised and some more. This is not going to be fun.
