Poms were definitely better. Foord and Fowler couldn’t really get into the game, we lacked a little quality across the field and some clear defensive lapses were incredibly costly.

Defence was standoffish & unassertive at times. Seems Kennedy was a big out.
Something to work on for the Olympics.

SA state government is putting up $18m over 3 years for women’s sporting facilities with $10m of it going to women’s soccer. The SA football federation is matching that $10m dollar for dollar

and they’ll definitely be used exclusively for women’s football post-acquital, right?

I don’t believe much that comes out of politicians mouths but Malinauskas seemed fairly genuine yesterday when he announced the package. He said it would be a grant program specifically for dedicated female sporting facilities.

Only got to see about 15 minutes of it tonight, game was played at a horrible tiimeslot for me unfortunately. Doesn’t see any of the goals but the one thing very noticeable was the lack of an enforcer on our side.
Obviously didn’t get the desired result but hopefully this springboards them for future tournaments

But an “enforcer” is typical Aus football. Just more players of the Kerr and Fowler class would allow us to break down that defence. The number of times we just overplayed a key ball…

It’s a phenomenal effort for an Australian team to make the final 4 in a World Cup.

I never thought I’d see it in my time.

You just need to compare the quality of the W-League, compared to the leagues of countries we are competing against. It’s unthinkable that we could make it this far considering the money & budget of football in this country.

It looked bad by the 10th minute . The English was a class above. I could not watch it and the result did not surprise me. The Matildas were great getting this far.

England is a quality team and will go in as favorites in the final - It’s been an amazing performance by Spain to make the final, when you consider in March 15 players refused to play under the then coach - They replaced the coach and only three of the fifteen returned to the squad - It’s important that the Matilda’s remain focused as they have the ability to win the third place play off.
