This goes missing due to how badly the scum were ran at the time they hired Malthouse.
Collingwood were an absolute powerhouse in 2010-11 and Malthouse had implemented an innovative new game-style which would dominate the tactical philosophy of the AFL for a few years afterwards.
Depending on how much one subscribes to the theory that the Buckley changeover signed in 2009 shook Mick out of a malaise which inspired the moves for Jolly+Ball and the implementation of the forward press alluded to above.
This is what we need to fix first. Talk of a new coach is window dressing until the administration is fixed.

they did finish top 4 in 2018, albeit didn’t win a finals game, so they were technically a threat that year, well until finals.
there’s no guarantee he won’t end up like those coaches.
there’s no guarantee he will though either 
difference being if he doesn’t turn into those above coaches, the opposite means he’s more likely too have success.
Also the big difference between the coaches mentioned so far, is they all had one specific style of playing.
malthouse - long and boring and safe around the boundary
pagan - pagans paddock (doesn’t work when you don’t have carey)
blight - didn’t he make grand finals at geelong, then adelaide ? or are you going to run with JUST the st kilda debacle ?

He is already safe imo. This administration will do nothing, especially when they will look like idiots sacking him. Unfortunately we will have to wait until the end of 2023 to see any possible change to our coach. If a change is made at the end of 2023, who knows who that may be?
